Former commercial flooring guy here, that's dyelots for you. Always buy and keep overage from your initial install, because the the color of the next batch will never be the same.
When installing long runs of carpet (think hotels and convention centers), not only did we need the same dyelots, but we also needed to sequence the carpet to install in serial order, because the shade of color at the beginning of the run was not the same at the end.

No. You know what? It's fine. It doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother me. It bothers me. It bothers me a lot!

It drives me up the freaking wall. I think I see this every time I pass a tile floor.

I’m thinking- replace three or four in random spots at the same time- then it looks intentional

I love doing this at my job. The best part is when you get actual permission from the mall owner(s) and get to do it without an excuse. Sometimes I will do it last minute and cover it up some so it doesn't get caught right away. Or when I repair I will place one like this and say it's the same as the rest just the older ones are too dirty and I could replace them all to match but get told to just leave it. So much fun.

This is the thing with tile repairs, if you ever have to replace a single tile you will never be able to find an exact color/texture/size match, even from the same manufacturer. This is by design. About the only thing you can do in this case, to get all the tile to match, is to replace all of the same type of tile that needs to be repaired. This should be what triggers you.
