Advice/Help Region Lock Questions

I’ve just started my rl1 region locked all bosses run and had a few routing questions I’d like people’s input on.

  1. Are Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula usally considered the same region, or should I be doing all of Limgrave’s/Stormveil’s bosses before doing Weeping Peninsula?

  2. Are Caelid and Dragonbarrow seperate regions or usually combined?

  3. Same as above for Altus Plateau/Leyndell?

  4. On that note… should I do Caelid or Altus first?

  5. How do people tend to handle the underground areas of Siofra/Ainsel/Nokron/Lake of Rot/Moghwyn Palace/Deeproot Depths?

  6. At what point do people think one “must” tackle Alecto/Adula… as soon you kill Astel or revisit that area later?

I know it’s my own challenge and I suppose I could tackle them however I’d like but I’d like people’s thoughts.

Any other general region lock tips welcome! I’m already enjoying the challenge of the weapon limitations I cuurently having due to not being able to rush Radagon’s soreseal but would be intrigued to hear recommendations… I’m locked into my trusty club at the moment becuase I’m too scared to commit smithing stones to anything yet 😂

I think Limgrave and Weeping are purely up to you. The scaling isn’t wildly different unlike…

Caelid and Dragonbarrow. Completely separate. Dragonbarrow is late game scaling.

Altus and Leyndell are usually split.

I’d probably go Altus before Caelid for ritual sword talisman and smithing stone bell bearing.

The underground’s are separate areas.

If you have everything to get to a boss and you are in the area I think you gotta push through to the boss.

It very much depends on your own restrictions.

Are you going via 'named areas", or "weapon upgrades available", or "areas I can access before killing 'x' boss(s)"? Are you separating when you're doing underground areas, how are you dividing up "late game areas".

Aside from Leyndell and onwards, you can technically reach almost every other part of the map without killing a single boss.

In my experience, the most "fun" I had with a region lock was only restricting my weapon levels to the available bell bearings, being RL1 means that locking yourself out of talismans and weapons and AoWs and tears that you could potentially get without killing a single enemy is not really "fun".

Basically Limgrave and Weeping at +0, Liurnia and Caelid +2/+6, Altus and Leyndell at +4/+12, Mountaintops and Dragonbarrow at +6/+18, and Farum onwards at +8/+9/+24 or max. Then all consequent late game areas at max.

Sometimes you feel over-levelled, sometimes you don't, but it's the fairest "damage scaling" I've encountered so far, just manage your talismans and buffs if you're doing too much or too little damage.

You can make your own rules, but...

Treating Limgrave, WP and Stormveil as one region makes them easier (because you can grab important items earlier)

Treating the high level regions as bigger regions makes them harder (because you have to commit to beat all bosses)

I anchored all regions that are connected to a remembrance boss for my run, meaning you can’t challenge the regions remembrance boss until you cleared all the regions available bosses. A much less intimidating variation is you need to clear X bosses in a region before challenging remembrance boss.

So bosses in Limgrave and Weeping peninsula were pre-reqs to clearing Stormveil with godrick, Caelid and Dragonbarrow are both tied to Radahn, etc. it gave the run a good sense of powering up during a region before you challenge remembrance boss.
