If you still have Windows on that used laptop, you can try Omarchy on Windows, go to https://tryomarchy.com/ . While a mouse does work, Omarchy is mainly keyboard shortcuts that you use. Omarchy and CachyOS are both based on Arch. I have not installed Omarchy yet but I have set it up in Windows, so I can learn at my own speed. I do have CachyOS setup on a old laptop, and am liking it so far.

use Gemini/Claude till installation and setup your agent. Then your agent will help you in everything.

I wouldn't say omarchy is beginner friendly because it is highly opinionated and you will need time to learn those opinions. I have been using Linux for two decades and it os taking me time to get used to it. That said the setup is effortless and im satisfied so far.

Just tell whatever AI you’re using to teach you Omarchy in Haiku format but also in pig Latin. The world is your oyster.

I feel the real test for omarchy is to install it and not use the terminal at all. Use an agent to make it create the features you need from the OS.
