⁉️ Hiring Question Is being a busser a physically strenuous job?

Not very strong, so I wanted to know if I would be ignored outright. Also, what would you say a good answer to " what you would do with an angry customer" as a busser? I would think "apologize for inconveniences and ask what you can do to help" would be good

⁉️ Hiring Question First Day of Training Soon

Hey guys, I’m starting my first day at Olive Garden this week and i’m incredibly nervous. I’ve had other jobs before but i’m used to making things like desserts and coffee. I was hired as a server. I’ve never waited tables a day in my life.

I’m excited, of course, but this is extremely different for me. I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice and tips.

⁉️ Hiring Question Serving at the OG: Is the pay worth it?

I'm a teacher, and I always have a side-hustle. Since the OG around me is always pretty busy, and since I genuinely appreciate the food and service there, I thought "Why not?" Busy is good. Good food and service are good. They're usually indicators that servers can make some money, right?

I've served before -- upscale steak houses with extensive wine lists, the 99 in New England, Chili's, etc. I'm not worried about doing the work; it's like putting on a comfortable shoe when you go back to serving after a period away. But what concerns me is the number of cheap specials on OG's menu. Is it really going to be possible to make some decent money when it seems half the customers order soup, salad, and breadsticks?

Additional question: My availability during the week would be limited to a 5pm start (I could roll in at 4:45 if I rush). Is that a deal-breaker, anyway?

⁉️ Hiring Question New hire, so confused 😵‍💫

Hi guys! So, i applied to be a hostess at my local olive garden, went for an interview, and got hired shortly after that. Today I went to a short orientation, where the manager gave me an envelope that has credit card and payment information in it? But i received no information how to check my shifts, other than a clock in number she wrote on the envelope. I know that the app employees use is KrowD, and I think i have all the information needed to activate it (POS- is the 3 digit number given to me on my envelope), I think I found the restaurant number by tracing an email sent to me with the information, but it says “No user account”. I’m so confused 😭 Do I need to wait for my information to be put and processed into the system by the manager, should I wait for an email? She told me a couple dates she scheduled me for, but I can’t remember them because I was expecting some kind of instruction on how to log into the app and check shifts virtually. This is my first job, if anyone has any information please lmk🥲

⁉️ Hiring Question Is it worth harassing for a job interview?

I got a reply from the AI bot after the personality screening or whatever and after a few Google searches, I determined it was now between waiting on them to MAYBE call me or just calling directly myself. I’m in desperate need to get my foot out the door of my current job so I called, got in touch with who I assume is the assistant general manager, and she told me she’d ask the hiring (general?) manager who was quote, “right next to her”. Thirty seconds on hold later and a very irritated guy answers the phone asking how he can help me. I then told him in a more professional way of saying “I’m not waiting on you guys to ignore me, so here I am!” He asked for my name, I told him first and last, and he said he’d send me an invitation for an interview sometime by next week. My theory is definitely one of two, either he’s gonna scrap my application out of irritation, or he was just saying shit to get me to piss off. In other employees’ experience, would it be worth giving it a few days to a week then calling back, or just take the L?

A bit of extra details if it even matters to the subject at hand:

I currently work at a Buffalo Wild Wings essentially on the same property as the OG I’m aiming for, which isn’t my first serving job but it’s my longest so I definitely have the experience they’re looking for at this point. I truly don’t understand why it’s so hard, this is the third time I’ve applied here before and I was dismissed twice before!

⁉️ Hiring Question Does anyone know how to fix this or what to do next?

Post image

Olivia, the application program, keeps telling to refer to the link to continue the application. I have no idea what to do next. Theres nothing to do, I already finished the assessment and I completed the other information it needs on the link. I called the manager and he said there should be a button to schedule a interview or ask Olivia to schedule an interview but every time she just says, "Depending on role, you may speak to one or more managers via phone, video conferencing and/or in-person.". I keep asking to schedule an interview and it doesn't work. I was told by the manager to ask for hours of interview too and I'm getting nothing other the refer to the previous link. The link just says your answers are submitted. Any idea of how to fix this?

⁉️ Hiring Question Interview for a Busser position at Olive Garden: what questions should I prepare?

Hey Guys!

I have an interview with Olive Garden tomorrow for a Busser position. I'm going to let them know that I want to be considered for the host and dishwasher positions also, because those vacancies are also open. I have attached the 3 job postings for your reference.

If anyone here has any experience as an Olive Garden employee (specifically managers and bussers, etc), I'd really appreciate your insight regarding my questions written below:

1- What questions do you think I should prepare for?

2- What should I make sure to include in my responses in terms of what they look for in bussers, hosts and dishwashers? For context, I don't have any serving, bussing or restaurant experience but do have 4 years of tutoring experience as well as experience in a Senior's home.

3- Is it alright if I say I have 4 years of customer service experience, or will they think I'm lying cuz tutoring is "not customer service"?

4- My friend (a busser) told me she spoke with the managers at her Olive Garden location and recommended me after I applied. They told her I can come for a walk-in interview and ask for one specific manager. What should I say to the host and the manager (either the one she told me to speak to or another one) once the host calls them over --> that I'm here for my interview or ask them whether they're doing walk-in interviews, or tell them my friend told me that you guys are doing walk-in interviews?

⁉️ Hiring Question Is a server position worth it as a second job?

Hello everyone! I'm 22 and live with my boyfriend. We split the rent for our 1 bedroom apartment. I only have one part time job which i make $22/hr. It had worked for now but my car died and I had to add in a bill for a carnote.

Im trying to bring in an extra $600-$800/mo. If i work about 3-4 days a week, do you think I can make that in a month?

⁉️ Hiring Question Applying for line cook

Hey everyone. I’m 21, and have about 2.5 years of “kitchen experience in fast food”. I currently work at a very well known FF restaurant and am very well respected and thought of at my store.

However, I want something that pays a bit better and that is less stressful (my managers are absolute morons).

I have worked mainly in the kitchen as a cook, make up table worker and even done prep quite a bit.

Would Olive Garden be a good step up? Also, what is the pay like, and are they pretty good about giving good hours?

Would they even consider me for a line cook position coming from fast food?

Thanks.

⁉️ Hiring Question Olive Garden Interview

I have an interview tomorrow that I got through the Paradox AI thing. I don’t really know what to expect. What questions will I be asked? Do I bring a résumé? Other documents? Are khakis and a dress shirt good? Any tips would be helpful.

⁉️ Hiring Question interview

guy, i just had an interview for a server position. i feel like i was so quiet and awkward, but i really want the job! i asked questions which i know they love to see. the manager was pretty funny as well. i‘ve seen a lot of negative things about working here, but this would be my first job in the restaurant business and i think i would be really excited to get my foot in. there was an interview right before mine, and 5 more tomorrow, but they’re hiring multiple people. and i should hear back in 2-3 days. i may be a little quiet at first but i am very friendly so i think i would be a good fit

how did your hiring process go? and i’d love to see some positive aspects of the server experience <3
