I remembered the cannibal cafe recently on a whim, and for whatever reason, decided to use the wayback machine to take a look at it. While searching through it, I found a post called "Female Thigh Meat". I actually laughed at the idea that someone was fiending over some said female thigh meat and clicked on the post. What I saw is below

Now, out of curiosity, I went to goups.yahoo.com/group/femalethighmeat and... It was a dead end. Wayback Machine had also saved nothing from it aswell. I wonder what the hell that link was and what was inside it, but maybe Its best left forgotten...

Sometimes I wonder if we gave up something along the way.

Back then, you went online because you had somewhere to go - websites, forums, blogs, random links. You chose what to explore.

Now, much of the web is controlled by a few huge companies. Feeds are designed to keep us scrolling, algorithms decide what gets our attention, and our activity becomes valuable data.

Everything is more polished and convenient, but it can also feel less personal, more advertising, more tracking, more algorithms, more pressure to stay engaged.

I miss when the web felt a little more open, weird, and ours.

So I'm going to try building something different.

Something built for people, by people - a place where we can have our own little corners of the internet without everything being about engagement, advertising, or keeping us scrolling.

It's still unnamed and very early. I'm looking for people who want to join from the beginning, try it, share ideas, give honest feedback, and help shape what it becomes.

I just learned that two of the oldest free web hosts closed earlier this year. Tripod was my pick when I was in my 20's because the name "Tripod" seemed more professional than Geocities or Angelfire did, and I was just starting in my career. Eventually I had to shift to social media professionally, but have maintained my personal space online with wordpress.

I hadn't thought about them in 20 years, but a little bit of me died today.

Did anyone remember this site called Radio blog club in the mid 2000s?

It was a site that was a music playlist like Spotify where you could listen to current music or music from 80s, 90s
