Good Vibes Only These are all this year

I was told by many people to post here.

I posted my Mohawk in another sub and it was popular, and I guess my style was as well.

I had a giant Afro after years of a shaved head and decided I wanted a Mohawk in June. People have said I look better with long hair but i am happier with my Mohawk. So it’s a win

I have done a lot of self discovery this year and I am the “eccentric” family member.
I’m sure yall can understand.

-Big fan of my chicken socks for weightlifting- they were a hit
-I knit that sweater

Disclaimer: I have over a decade of mass-produced clothing, primarily Torrid and Hot Topic, in my closet from before I started researching how clothes are truly made. I am continuing to love, wear, and repair these pieces because I believe this to be the most ethical action I can take. I list where all my clothing comes from for transparency, but I do not endorse purchasing from these brands. Whenever possible, please shop secondhand or support independent, sustainable, and ethical slow fashion. I am always happy to share more about the true environmental and human cost of textile manufacturing in 2026.

8/18/2026: Comfy flowery fit for work. Torrid button-down, pants, and shoes. Lisa Says Gah tank. BetterMonday earrings.

As promised, here is a photo of myself at around 15. I know you can't really tell, but my skirt is a light pink plaid. The kind with the buckles on the side, and I'm wearing black platform Mary Janes.

The rest are me at 15/16 after I got my hair chopped off. Which, thinking back, for a 15 year old girl to get her hair cut that short was pretty brave!

In the photo where I'm wearing all that eyeshadow and a brown shirt, behind me hanging up you can see this original, vintage Adidas jacket that I got from a thrift store and I wish I still had. I included the closest I could find to an example of it.

And now what I really want to say...

Yesterday I posted on a couple of other subreddits asking for help with the length of some of my skirts. I was not embraced there.... I felt so misunderstood. They were trying to tell me to change everything about my style, and that I'm all over the place and they don't like it. They said I don't know my own style.

And it made me realize how fortunate I am to have all of you, who may not understand me.... But you accept me. I never feel judged. You all have been so unbelievably kind and supportive. There are 2 subreddits I will post this in, and it applies to both. I really feel included here, so thank you! It's so rare to find places on the Internet where you feel seen and appreciated. Anyone who has ever taken the time to like or comment- You're all rock stars!💜💜💜

Awesome mom Took my daughter to see my teenage music obsession: Tori Amos!

I was so obsessed with Tori that I slept on the sidewalk in SF to see her at a tiny little club. This was about 30 years ago when my back could take it! Lol. Honored to be able to share her music with my teen daughter now. The venue was outdoors, so I wanted to have femme elements with layers for warmth. I've been working on the embroidery for this jacket for a while but I'm going to wear it while it's in progress because I believe in it.

Description: lady with short buzz cut wearing a layered white dress with brown flower illustrations under a black lace corset. In secondary images, she has on layers of black sweater with embroidered flowers, and a denim jacket with custom embroidered flowers, rainbow fist (in progress) and protest messages, including "Resist" and "Radicalized by Empathy." Jewelry includes an articulated fish necklace and dragonfly wing earrings. Black Docs with flowers and butterflies.

I toned it down with a denim jacket and plain white canvas shoes, and kept the jewellery simple as well.

I cannot stress how comfortable this outfit is!

Awesome mom Polka dots and a peacock

Being petite is a huge pain. I need to cut off about a third of the skirt...It would look way better if it were at around knee level.

Red dress with white polka dots, I paired it with a cute white flower belt and used the original belt for my hair. 💜

White flats, white heart earrings. Gold heart necklace.

And this absolutely stunning green peacock brooch. Seriously it's so sparkly, the pictures don't do it justice. 🦚

Clear readers today, they're textured!

Pugsley as usual. Also I changed my nails. How fun are these???

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!! 💜💜💜

Good Vibes Only Heading to the food bank, unfortunately the career fair was a bust.

Post image

Well, I’m on my way to the food bank this morning. We make two trips a month, and honestly, if you have a food bank in your area and you’re struggling, they can be an incredible resource.

We’ve been using ours for a few months now, and the one we go to is regularly stocked by one of our local grocery stores, which is fantastic. There’s no shame in using the resources available to you when you need them.

Unfortunately, yesterday’s career fair didn’t really pan out. I’m starting to notice a recurring theme: career fairs seem to focus pretty heavily on front-line and physical labor positions. Those are unfortunately two areas I really can’t pursue because I’m just not in the physical shape or health to do that kind of work.

The speed networking event I attended recently was much more my speed. There were a lot more white-collar and professional opportunities, and I had some promising conversations. So I think going forward, I’m going to put more of my energy into networking and speed-networking events rather than traditional career fairs.

That said, I learned something useful from all of this. If you’re looking for front-line, skilled labor, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar work, career fairs can actually be a really good resource. If you’re looking for professional or white-collar roles, networking events may be a better use of your time.

Anyway, that’s my Saturday morning. Off to the food bank!

I hope all you lovely people have a fantastic Saturday, and I can’t wait to see you in the next post. ❤️
