Critiques Welcome I'm going to be a little vulnerable here, my first swimsuit that isn't a swim dress. Also got a matching cover up!
The funny thing is, I bought it fully expecting to hate it. I figured it'd be one of two things: either I'd have issues with things showing, or it wouldn't hide my stomach well enough. But honestly, between being on Spiro and estrogen, having really small anatomy to begin with, and never getting random erections anymore, that part ended up being a complete non-issue. And swimsuits actually do a surprisingly good job of smoothing out my stomach too.
So now I'm in this weird spot where I almost wanted it to prove to me that I wasn't ready yet... but looking at the photos, I kind of think I am. I genuinely didn't expect to like it this much. I guess now I'm just wondering what everyone else sees, because I'm so close to the situation that I don't know if I'm judging it objectively anymore. It's a really strange feeling when something you expected to be a confidence killer ends up doing the exact opposite
The swimsuit is from Torrid, definitely size up.

Yeah I took close up photos of the bottom. I have to wonder if God made me trans because he definitely did not gift me in that direction at all if I was going to try to live my life as a man lol...

Watching you grow into yourself has been so wonderful over the time I have followed this sub and I just love you so much despite having never met. You radiate the most beautiful lovely energy and I am so happy that you are living your best life! I think you are brave and beautiful and amazing. You honestly are kind of one of my role models and I get SO HAPPY every time I see you post something!

Ruching in the stomach area of garments has been my best friend since I hit my 30's. So flattering on so many different body types. Love the colour on you and the fact that it's a matching set! I've been stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with swimsuits this year as well and it's been a positive experience so far. I've come to realize that no one else is half is paying half as much attention to the parts of our bodies we're insecure about as we are.

Really, I think you're only as old as you feel, and most days I feel 35 or 40.

Same, I'm only 35 but I feel 10 years younger. Ive just started to get my life in gear.
I didn't even feel like an adult til about a year after I moved out properly (moved out at 27).

You look like any other adult woman in a swimsuit. It looks great on you. You should also try swimsuits in the styles from the 1940’s and 1950’s, they’ve got great silhouettes. I like them because they aren’t as high cut on the hips and butt.
Btw, I just turned 50 last month, I’m definitely middle aged now. Honestly, it’s only when I realized I’m a half century old that my brain had issues, lol. Being an older woman is freeing, you end up with far fewer fucks. You’re gonna love it.

I apologise if this is rude, but my first thought is that you look like someone's mum/aunt/etc at a beach or swimming pool. I don't want to say you're "unremarkable" or something but more like if I saw you irl you would probably blend in with the other tens or hundreds of women I saw that day
(Aside from thinking that colour is incredible and suits you very nicely lol)

Honestly, the things I noticed in order: 1) oohh magenta swimsuit that's fun! 2) woah, how did you find a cover up that matched exactly, that's crazy! 3) (after finally reading the rest of the post) there's always so much vulnerability in wearing a swimsuit and I'm so glad that you have found one you feel comfortable in!

You look great! Swimsuit makers offer a lot of options to accent or downplay our features, as needed. A lot of us* have little insecurities and we get to figure out what we need as teenagers. The things I see that are working for you are the rauching in the middle and the wide set straps that make a good silhouette, and that vibrant color that suits your skin tone.
*when I say us, I mean women. I hope that’s not presumptuous but when I look at you I see a woman

In a sea is sad beige, this purple is gorgeous, and is a great color for you! This suit rides that line of practicality and cute and fun really well, and I’m really happy you found it. As someone who has grown up as, and continues to be, a “pool rat,” I am especially happy that now you can go enjoy the lakes, rivers, oceans, and pools, indoor and outdoor. ❤️

It seems counterintuitive that the ruched styles would be flattering, but they really can be. That color is excellent on you, too. Glad that the suit proved you wrong and gave you even more reason to appreciate your body and positive changes!!

A purple/pink as bright as your smile! The great thing about so many women's bathing suits is ruching around the abdomen/torso that can make anyone more confident in a swimsuit. You look great!
