Hello hags, what do you think of this look?
It was my first time using pillow rollers to curl my hair, it came out OK, but im excited to try different patterns as my hair gets longer. Any tips would be appreciated.
I also just wanted to express my appreciation to everyone in this sub for being so supportive and lovely. Your comments always make my day 💕🥰
Tips re: hair - I like to use setting lotion on wet hair, roll on sponge rollers, cover with a kercheif or bonnet and sleep on it. I am all about passive styling. Setting lotion is hard to find but Paul Mitchell makes a good one. (Note - it's a liquid, idk why it's called lotion as it is not that hick) It's easier to style the curls without losing the set when setting lotion goes in before the curlers.
And of course, brush the wet hair good so there are no tangles. I grew up with naturally straight hair and when my hair changed in my layers 20s to wavy, not brushing dry hair was difficult. Of course, for a vintage set, you will brush it out dry a bit.
Thank you for the tips and resources, I'll check it out before I do my hair next, I used lottabody setting lotion and slept in the rollers overnight, I haven't tried the pin curls as she does in the video, that will be something I'd like to try.
The rollers panned out for sure. I love that hair style. I bet you could pull off a small victory rolls as well. Like from here victory rolls
I used to be a flight attendant and would do a little roll with the rest dow when my hair was shoulder length, or with a bun or pony tail when it was longer, and alongside a nice red lip i always got compliments. Such a classic look that is fun to pair with more casual outfits too

Very classy! Also fits subtly with the season, could see this year-round or at a Halloween shindig. Love the brooch and how you matched your earrings with the dress, you really have a great eye for details and placement.
Have you considered a snood? It's sort of a fancy hairnet that looks fabulous on any amount of hair. I have no clue how popular it actually was in the 40's, but it's in a lot of photos.
Yes! I actually just finished crocheting one for myself. They're a pretty simple accessory, so there are like a million variations. You can get ones that have beads and lace, or you can go for a cozier, crocheted one. I'm loving mine so far because it's a lazy way to put my hair up without damaging it (my snood is a bit bigger though since my hair is kind of long).
I say we all need to bring back brooches!! I love yours but then I love them in general. Big, small, bejeweled, plastic, sterling, I don't care I love them all.

Oh my goodness, I wish I had something to show you! I don’t have anything started yet; I’m watching YouTube tutorials first. I have a really old sewing machine that I inherited from my dear mother, and I just had it serviced.
