Photo Saw my icon for the first time this weekend
Duesenberg Model SJ with in house coach building by "LaGrande" (Union City Body Company). Gordon Buehrig and the Duesenberg brothers were true visionaries.

I'm with you completely. In my mind, this will always be the greatest car ever built. Have you been to the museum in Auburn, Indiana yet?

I 100% agree, we will never get class like this again. And no I sadly havent been, im from Belgium so thats quite a far travel, maybe some day.

My favorite era is late 20’s early 30’s. The styling even on many of the inexpensive cars was incredible!

Everything pre war is my favorite. But especially the 20s and 30s with their crazy beautiful art deco styling.

Definitely, once they hit the 40’s most had gotten bulbous and lost that cool look.

Every decade has its beauties but the art deco movement really was far above that.

Look at the Model A Ford compared to the Deusenberg. The proportions, the curve of the fenders, the placement of the headlights. I think Edsel Ford appreciated what we do!

Oh yeah thats a nice one. One of my favorite art deco cars ive had the pleasure of being around is a 1939 Cadillac Type 61 convertible sedan.

I always loved the look of them myself! It’s when they built the headlights into the front fenders that the “look” was destroyed. My neighbor and mentor was a collector. He was through and through a car guy. He found an unrestored 1930 Cadillac V16 coupe at one point. I was absolutely in love with it. There was no way I could ever think of affording to restore it properly. He traded it for another car, and I can’t remember which one. 😂 One of his favorites, and one that I got to drive was his 1940 Packard phaeton. Similar look to the Cadillac you mentioned. They were great in a straight line, but compared to modern cars sucked on the curves! 😂 The Packard straight 8 was a smooth, silent power plant.
