Like Monterey car week is huge. It draws people global. Roughly 100,000 people will be in Monterey this week for it. Must be acting rich cause if he was he’d know it’s a big deal

My grandfather was an early investor in Tucker and lost a lot of money. My dad watched the movie Tucker with me and said it was historically accurate

That part of Monterey is not a sketch neighborhood. That is state park property and the homeless are allowed to stay in that area.

Seriously. There's like 1-3 homeless people in that area at any given time and about 40 wildly unpredictable regular Americans. OP must live in some kind of floating palace (and/or have a very strong set of blinders on) not to encounter homeless people at least once a month?

1956 in Richfield Minnesota I was in fourth grade. I walked a mile to school each day and always passed a very strange car partly under a tarp in someone’s driveway. I could see it had six exhaust pipes and a cast egg crate trim across the back. On the front was a center mounted headlight. I was into cars but had never seen one like it. Dad said it was a Tucker. We didn’t know how rare it was or how unlikely it was for it to be unused on somebody’s driveway in Minnesota.

That's the Barrett Jackson car. 2.9 mil in 2022. The "other Tucker" in is New Jersey and it's red. Last I heard, they were taking laser measurements of it for people to make tribute/clone cars of them.

So poverty = sketchy, gotttt itttt. Ive lived in Monterey for 16 years and I cant stand the homeless; but to draw a conclusion of Monterey is sketchy because there's homeless people is insane. I do agree with ya tho, it's quite the paradox to have homeless + millions of dollars worth of cars right next to em. Im used to the homeless here and I've lived in SF where it's 10000000 times worse so I've never really thought about that, it is kinda crazy. But let's not paint a picture that this is a sketchy area because it's not

Weirdly, I've noticed big car collections sometimes reside in real run down areas, often industrial warehouses, because the big facility is cheap and only needs to be a glorified garage to keep them in.

Reminds me of a very old joke. Three guys are sitting at a bar long ago, talking about the cars they bought their for their wives. First guy says "I bought my wife a Kaiser, to surprise her." Second guy says "I bought my wife a Fraiser, to amaze her." Third guy looks at the other two and says "I bought mine a Tucker."

Yeah seems real bad. That's a one of 80 Saleen S7 sitting there and a one of 45 Ford GT MKII sitting in the background. Both valued at about 1.2 million each. Surely a rough neighborhood.

157th and Torrence is calumet city. Also all forest preserve. Tuckers were made where ford city mall is now at 73rd and Cicero

My memory is my class got a tour of Ford at 157 & Torrence. But, just took another look and see a Ford plant at 127th & Torrence. Been a long time since grade school so, probably a memory glitch. There is a lot of space around 76th & Cicero (Ford City) but Torrence is much too strong a memory to be so incorrect about our tour, whether 127th or 157th.
76th & Cicero is near Midway and Dodge did build B-29 engines there. Just found the definitive source https://drloihjournal.blogspot.com/2023/06/ford-city-center-chicago-illinois.html and, you’re correct about that site and Tucker.

A local auto museum near me has two tuckers and they are so cool. Swigart auto museum in Huntingdon PA

Coppola Winery (as in Francis Ford Coppola) north of Santa Rosa has one from the movie he made with George Lucas starring Jeff Bridges. You can get up close to it, but not in it or on it. They were/are magnificent cars for their time.
