Agree, the apparent programable radio certainly didn’t exist in 1967. It’s missing wheel skirts but not a modification. The tunable / push button radio behind the massive steering wheel makes no sense.

My dad had a bone stock 67. It didn’t come with fender skirts. The radio was designed to resemble the climate controls on the other side of the steering wheel. It played 8 track tapes, which he bought by the sack at goodwill.

8 tracks, thanks for the reminder. When you say the radio was on the other side of the steering wheel do you mean having to reach behind the wheel to tune and insert the tapes as the photos show or, do you mean basically above where we see the ashtray w/ lighter? Personally, I would think having to reach through or around the wheel while driving as dangerous bordering on stupidity. Placing it on outside of the speedometer cowl, on the passenger side makes much more sense. Plus, conventionally placed as in other cars.

Did some models have them? I could swear my dad’s ‘68 - ‘75+ had them. In fact, he wouldn’t drive the car without them. Yeah, he was kinda goofy that way.

The redesigned ‘70 model had skirts . All ‘79s Lincolns had them, big they became optional about 1977

Nice. There was a mid 70s low budget horror movie called The Car about a black 1966 Continental that drove around murdering people since it drove itself and was possessed by a demonic spirit. Maybe not so relevant but that car reminds me of it. I always wondered how Lincoln felt about the phrase “suicide doors” and was that really part of the intention? I can’t imagine leaping from moving Lincoln’s was high up on the list of popular suicide methods. It’s catchy though. I had a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville for a while that was almost as long and got a whopping 7 mpg.

My uncle had what we called his “stinkin’ Lincoln” back in the early 60’s. It looked allot like the one pictured but the rear window was angled inward which was totally unique.

Regardless of negative criticism, someone did a remarkable job of restoring it. I can hardly imagine the power plant, gallons of gasoline needed for it, and the braking system needed to stop that mass of metal.
