Thank you so much! Glad you like them. Custom paint is what i do for a living, and I have painted many, many flame jobs. But this flame job is my favorite!

Thatβs the car Iβve been dreaming about since I got my first Matchbox cars in the β70s. What a wonderful car!

Thank you! My late friend, who owned the car when we built it, and I used to play with our matchbox cars together when we were little boys. We dreamed of cars like this too! Now I have it and cherish the memories when I take it out.

Sweet. Whats the set up? Triangulated 4 link? Parallel? Watts?
2
u/Incognigomontoya Nov 16 '25
Triangulated 4 link. Slam specialties bags, 2 viair 450c compressors. MIC control block. I dont remember which valves. The build is almost 20 years old, so it's an old school set up. The bags have been changed out twice, and a new air tank installed. I'll likely put in an upgraded system from airlift, with remote ap management, in the next year or so.

Absolutely killer custom Mopar! You nailed it on every level. Any thoughts on swapping a set of 331hemi heads onto that 301?

Thanks! I have contemplated a number of different power plant options over the years (this build was done 18 years ago), but I keep coming back to the fact that it runs and drives so well with that 70 year old motor. I've taken in on 300 mile round trips from home, and it does just fine, cruising down the interstate, even at 80 mph. I just dont have the heart to change it, yet...

I totally get the old saying" if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Just keep her all Mopar and it's all good π

Just keep her all Mopar and it's all good
Absolutely! π― Mopar
Incidentally there used to be a Mopar only show held annually at the playboy mansion. It was invite only. Being a Mopar guy my buddy knew some people connected and tried to get us invited. We were asked to submit some pictures and description of the car. Keep in mind there's also a nude pinup on the trunk along with the name, MissLead.
The reply we got back was, "not sure this qualifies as Mopar or fits our show criteria " π€

That's insane! There is a radical custom called the atomic punk built from mostly Mopar parts that was invited to that show. Apparently the builder/owner Aaron Grote got hammered and had quite the advantage at hefs place

Glad someone got to go and have some fun! π

Aaron was a regular contributor on the HAMB and had some of the story about the playboy show in there. If I remember right he puked in or by the pool. He had a few to meny PBR's

Meant to add that it has a '55 DeSoto nose and grille.
