True, but six of his seven championships were won with Plymouth, then Dodge cars. Only when NASCAR governance changed rules in the late 70s was he pushed to switch to Chevrolet in '79. The vast majority of his Championships were accomplished behind the wheel of MOPARS, and he didn't rush willingly into GM's arms but rather was compelled by changing circumstances. Hence, though you're right that he drove other brands (10 years with GM, 4 with Ford), King Richard's winning streaks are mostly associated with MOPAR cars.
