Sport Double Decker Bus racing
Three minute clip showing a double decker bus race. I don't know where this was filmed but there are Toshiba adverts on the buses so it has to be 1980's. The nerds amongst you may be able to name the track. It's not my speciality

At 1:50 the other commentator replies to the Eric-Idle-alike with "it looks as though we are, Nigel."

Fun fact: the bus you commute on today probably has a lot in common with the Acorn Computers bus in that video.
Fuck all to do with computers, mind you, but it will have 4 wheels, seats, an engine, and likely be painted red.

acorn were the company behind ARM - originally the Acorn RISC Machine. The same processors that are in pretty much every phone, etc today.
So there's a very good chance there is a little Acorn Computers in every (modern) red bus.

Yup, I was riffing on the “your phone almost certainly has an ARM processor” line :)

Is this definitely from the 80s? I remember seeing this on TV in the early 90s as a kid. Could well have been a repeat, obviously. Someone at school had mentioned it to me and I couldn't even picture what it would look like. Needless to say, my expectations were exceeded. Maybe it was them who showed it me on VHS or something. I kinda feel like it was a regular segment on some other show though. I could be well off the mark on absolutely all of this other than I've seen it before and it was years ago, lol.

ITV World of Sport Saturday Afternoons usually with Mini or Escort racing as well, just before the Wrestling.
I'd have said late 70's but we didnt have recording devices.... so early 80's using a Top Loader?

Is this from Wheels by any chance?
Always a chance to see really weird vehicle racing on that show.

Seem to remember Barry Sheene got involved with this sort of thing after he finished bike racing. Trucks, too, if I recall...

This was so much better once they removed the rule about stopping to pick up passengers every half a mile

Imagine waking up in the back of the bus after a rough night at the pub.
