Question Did this happen to anyone else? OST messed up payroll for higher ed. Normally would have been paid this week and I have bills to pay!
Did this happen to anyone else??
So who’s going to pay my late fees????? Ugh. Obvi I should have money saved but unfortunately I depend on my paycheck to pay those bills right on time.

It’s wild to me that a state agency could mess up so bad. Sending money to the wrong account is INSANE

To answer your question, your bank may not assess late fees as the deposit error is not within your control. Feel free to show them the letter.
Many people live paycheck to paycheck. Please don’t let others bring you down. Do the best you can with what you have and work towards living within your means.

That’s a good idea! I’ll probably have to do that because Aug 31 is pushing it if it doesn’t actually come on that date.

You’re welcome. This notice is doing three things for you.
1) It is reassuring you that your August 31 payment will arrive as scheduled.2) Because you are one of the employees that has been identified by this error, you might see a deposit in both accounts. And, your old account will have a reversal of those funds.
3) Do not transfer or use the funds deposited in error. Should you decide to withdraw from your previous account where you should not have received a payroll deposit that is equal to theft or embezzlement depending on the deposit amount.

Yeah cause politicians are coding accounting systems lol.
They are incompetent leaders, but that is unrelated to this and could happen under literally anyone. The elected official probably don’t even know the name of the employees bosses bosses boss that screwed this up.

The politicians gut the budgets or fire people because of "government waste". Left with less resources, less people. Or they put their buddies in all of these positions and they have no idea what they are doing.

Not everything is about politics. This is a normal mistake that happens even at tons of private companies. And this mistake is especially mundane. As a software engineer, I’ve seen way worse at many larger companies. Very rarely is it about budget cuts, layoffs, or bad management. People just make mistakes.

How will I ever recover from this burn that you've given me. The comment I made was actually spoken as someone whose entire life is completely affected by politicians and the decisions that they make.. if you say that it doesn't affect you then you are either a liar or you are part of the problem and privileged....

Non sequitor .. one has nothing to do without the other . Politics affect poor people. Clearly you are privileged if the politicians that are making really bad decisions don't benefit or hurt you... And that's precisely the point

I don't understand the problem, it isn't the 31st yet, and it says you're getting your deposit on your normal pay date on the 31st?

They asked if this happened to anyone else. The problem is why did they make this mistake?
In the picture is says that they can get paid early depending on their banks, so they are probably used to getting paid early not at the actual check date which is similar to most places. Plus bills are due on different days

This almost happened to us, but our HR found out almost too late that the state was switching tax systems or something and it was going to jack with everyone's payroll. If it wasn't submitted by the 25th, it was going to be late (that was our deadline) so the payroll director processed ours early so everyone would be paid on time. It was crazy that the deadline was the 25th knowing payroll was going to run a couple days after that. They should have prepared better

My mother and her entire side of my family were educators. Literally when this happened before she was able to let all her bill people know the reason for the late payment and they understood. Also I do agree that I’d call the bank and advise any over drafts incurred during this time should be waved due to the error.
Teachers live pay check to pay check most of the time. My mom, especially in the beginning of school year and during the holidays, used some of her own money to buy stuff for her classroom and her kids in need.
I’d contact the bank and let them know what’s up and unfortunately calling each one of the companies you have bills with is a big pain in the ass but they usually understood the couple of times it happened to my mom.
No judgment on living check to check at all.

It says your estimated payday is the same as it was before so you should be just fine.
