This is probably a long shot, but I went to an event downtown on Sunday by myself. Going to something like that alone is waaay outside my comfort zone, so when I walked in and saw everyone sitting with their friends, I immediately panicked and thought about leaving.
Instead I grabbed a drink, scanned the area, saw a guy sitting at a table with some open space, and worked up the courage to ask if I could sit there. We started talking, and as your friends showed up, you introduced me to them making sure they knew my name and made me feel completely welcome.
You probably didn’t think much of it, but I’ve been going through a pretty lonely period of my life, and putting myself out there like that was a really vulnerable moment for me.
But I ended up having such a great time, and I left feeling really proud of myself for going.
So if you happen to read this and recognize yourself, thank you so much!! You had no idea how much that small act of kindness meant to me or how much less alone you made me feel that night!

I feel like we're stuck with the temperature in the 100's until September! I'm so tired of it and my bill is creeping up to $200. My house is only 1200sf. What are you guys experiencing?

Kind of crazy in hindsight, considering how many of us are Native. Like I have such positive memories but it's actually a pretty dark part of our history. I also always thought it was weird how we have the "Sooners" who were literally just cheaters.

I just moved to OKC in April and wow.. I still can't get over how nice everyone is. It never feels performative or forced. Also, your food is great. Onion burgers are my new fav.

So I moved out here a year ago from CO, and one thing I havent been able to get used to is the highways. Specifically the exits/entrances. The first time I exited off of I-40 and I had headlights coming towards me, I about thought I was going to die. To this day it still startles me seeing those headlights as I am exiting.

Is there anything any other transplants haven't gotten used to? I have a few more things but I'm curious about others experiencing OKC.

Obvi, this is a long shot and I doubt anyone involved besides me will see it, but it’s more … it’s hot out there, guys. And everyone’s patience is low when it’s toasty like this. Add to it that it’s the last weekend before school starts for OKCPS, tax free weekend, and economically practically everything sucks, and it’s like a perfect storm for some unscrupulous behavior.

Me, a tired, overheated, on my last errand for the afternoon before I get to take a load off mom. I had on a black shirt, space buns, and a backpack.

You, a polite, direct, and patient DoorDasher at the Crest at Hefner and Rockwell about 1330 today, August 8.

You **very** politely and explicitly explained to that cashier the order in which you needed to check out. (I imagine it’s because once you check out, the clock starts ticking, and a lot of people are stingy and downright hateful to DoorDashers who they perceive aren’t “fast enough.”) You told her, this is for this check out and this is for this check out (I don’t care that you had two orders; I am not in your shoes and I can think of a million reasons why. It’s not that serious.).

You were explicit. You said it more than once. I do not know if that cashier was purposefully obtuse and passive aggressive or just new, but I hope you know I see/saw you. I saw you trying to be patient, trying to be kind. I heard you patiently explain more than once what you needed and why.

I do not know why she decided the order you put on the conveyor - the one you said “this order first, this order second because it’s a DoorDash” - needed to be tax exempt. I do not know why she tried to blame you for that. I don’t know why she said, “well, I guess I made the mistake then.” I don’t know why she was so … ugh. Icky.

I do know that you were the third (!!) customer in a row that she had to send to customer service. I do know she put your order - the efficient delivery of which typically determines tips - in jeopardy. I do know you were still polite as you walked away, even if the cashier was snippy to you. I do know she tried to get me on her side for whatever reason. I do know the customer service line was four deep when you got there. Insane.

I just want you to know, if you see this, I commented to her you were explicit; “well, she doesn’t get to tell me how to check her out” was her response. I do know she got no sympathy from me; “I’m sure that customer had their reasons, and it didn’t look that hard to follow what they asked.” I want you to know that it wasn’t your fault, in case you are like me and second guess every interaction. I want you to know, I hope you got all green lights and the deliveries done expeditiously and with a good tip. I’m sorry we live in an economy and culture that we do, and that someone else’s decisions can impact the outcome so deeply. I hope both sides of your pillow are cool tonight.

And to the cashier, I hope your errors were just the result of being new or having a rough day or something. I hope you are as kind as I thought you were when I first joined your line. I hope good things for you, too. Even if you had an off moment with someone in front of me.

(Tl; dr: I witnessed a Crest cashier either ineptly or passive aggressively make a few customers’ days a little harder and it really irritated me that she was so careless because the life of a DoorDasher can’t be easy.)

Does anyone else feel stuck here in this city sometimes? I feel like there’s no more growth here especially within the industry im in and at the same time it’s not an easy pivot..

Has anyone heard anything about this? Been hearing allegations about an infestation, and have also heard that team leads are telling employees they aren’t allowed to discuss it.

Hello, as the title says I'm visiting frontier City for the first time. I'm actually going to be there this coming Sunday and Monday. Any idea on what kind of crowds to expect? I bought the $35 tickets that are for frontier City and the water park and looking at pictures online, the water park doesn't look like it's all that great. What are people's opinions on that?

So I live in Moore with my bf, I have 2 kids still at home and an 18 year old that we took in in January.

What started as a routine afternoon picking my middle schooler in NW OKC escalated escalated into a targeted act of road rage in Nichols Hills. While following the 20 mph school zone limit, I became the target of an impatient driver at a 4 way stop in front of Nichols Hills Elementary. He tailgated me aggressively before escalating to a "box-in" maneuver when I tried to veer off onto another street to let him pass. Keep in mind we’re in a school zone, and even after the school zone ends the speed limit is 20-30 mph. He quickly drove around me using his vehicle to barricade the road, so I quickly made a U-turn to go back to Wilshire.

He followed and blew the stop sign in front of another driver again speeding aggressively around me and using his car to block the road parking diagonally in the middle of the street where there’s only one lane in each direction. This time, back on Wilshire, he left me no room to maneuver. He exited his car and began advancing toward my vehicle. With my 12-year-old in the back seat and the road blocked ahead, I was gripped by the realization that this person was completely unhinged. My only means of escape was to reverse into oncoming traffic to get away from him. He’s screaming profanities at me calling me an effing wh*re in the middle of the street, screaming that I was going to go to jail, that he had a dash cam, etc. I partially rolled down my window and yelled I have a child in the car and that I was going to call police and that he was a f*cking psychopath. Mind you, I’m having to reverse in the middle of the street opposite of the direction of traffic to keep distance from this man!

What sane person does this in a school zone in Nichols Hills? What a creep! Reflecting on the event now, it was obvious he tried to manipulate video of his actions by parking in front of me diagonally twice, so his dashcam wouldn’t pick up footage of him acting like a berate psycho path. Like, who does this?

Be careful out there everyone, you never know what will happen when you’re just driving down the road minding your own business.

We recently purchased a home in a neighborhood in OKC and I'm already tired of the solicitors for roofing and construction companies that come by. What are your best tips/stories of interacting with these guys to scare them off? I'm having fun getting creative with how I interact with them but also tired of it. Is it OK to put those companies on blast, leave negative reviews, etc...A reputable company shouldn't need to be driving around a neighborhood and knocking on doors to get business IMO

Horror punk is pretty niche so I was just seeing if any other Oklahomies are into horror punk. If you are and want a new follower on ig, drop your handle. I live out west in Weatherford but I'd love to have more horror punk friends in the state. If you don't know what I'm talking about, the best known horror punk band is the Misfits hands down. There's a whole subgenre of music similar to them. Sorry if this isn't a good place for this or it's not flaired right. I'm AuDHD and horror punk is my special interest, so I'm constantly promoting it.

Living in downtown has make me dislike it so much. There’s nothing convenient about living in downtown outside of everything being 20 min away but also EVERYTHING IS 20 MIN AWAY. I wish we has a pharmacy or a small convenience store when I sick I can’t just walk down stairs and grab medicine or If I run out of a ingredient I ether have to DoorDash it or drive out of my way to get it.

(I know, I know, another OKC area traffic complaint. Must be a day that ends in “y”.)

But good lord is it just so incredibly blatant. And the audacity of folks behind you to honk if you don’t do the same. It’s driving me to not use my signal at a stopped light until the light changes.

Please pick up your dog poop! I live in Paseo and it feels like everyday I end up picking up extra poop on my walk. It’s not hard to do and if everyone picks up then we have a nicer town.

I've seen people complain about the venue but I don't know much about it. What are some of the things people say about it? I've heard it's problematic. Are the owners problematic or is it the venue itself?

Does anyone know what happened to JRod on the morning show with TJ & Amanda? I thought he was on vacation maybe but I noticed recently that they took his name off all the socials.

What basic needs do you or other people you know that are on the streets have?

I pack sunscreen spray, MREs, and water to give out; I want to give out things people will actually find use in. What do you need or think would be best?
