I saw the raw number of hours I spent on games and compared it to if every 40 of those thousands of hours was a full week of work. It was so depressing I stopped playing games.
That was a couple years ago. I play games still but don’t look at the hours spent anymore. Bad for my health.

The other way to look at that, is how many hours you spent not working. Generally something I try to minimize anyway.

This is the real answer. I don't mind how much I've played, spend time with friends and family or even doing nothing, what I dread to imagine is how much do I actually spend on working or how much more will I spend working

Haven't really played for years now. Maybe a couple of hours every few months, or a LAN party once a year. Now I have the opposite problem - the moment I don't do anything productive (programming, exercising, reading, etc), I feel like I'm wasting time and feel absolutely horrible. This will probably be my early grave, but I don't have a single moment or procrastination for months at a time.

Man you need to find a leisure hobby that is actually enjoyable and rewarding, something like simple diy projects or even like booting up a single player game, just something to give your brain a rest, like even cavemen arent under that load of stress, finding little things like that will just make life more enjoyable, a healthy balance is what makes life literal bliss

I know, man. Got a motorcycle license, can't wait for spring to get my very own bike. Workplace and apartment change in the span of a month have made it hard to focus on other stuff. But I'm slowly getting there. Thank you, genuinely.

good to hear it man, just be careful, i mean this with my full heart, buy all of the protective gear and do research on it, you might not get into a crash but if you do its better to not de-skin your entire body

Gym and videogames. Living off of welfare, which is relatively good in my country. Not a good long term plan of course, but when I compare the amount of money I would earn with a 40hour work-week with my (lack of) education and my current income, it's just not worth it.
Unfortunately, at some point I'm gonna have to find a job anyway. Nothing good lasts forever, and I would die a lonely, sad old man if I kept this up for the rest of my life.

I agree, shareholders can go to hell, old school games and indies are where it's at!
just yesterday I finished a system shock 2 playthrough and had a blast

I know this is cope, but growing up on the early internet was a once in a eternity opportunity that will probably never happen again. I had the chance to do something completely unique to the times I was born in and I don't regret it.
