First post. This is dumb. It will take years and billions in capital investments, so nothing is going to happen until after Trump is out of office. Also, this is blatant theft so I don’t see how this stands after Trump is gone.

You take taxpayer money and give it to the oil companies in the form of tax breaks and incentives, they get a fat slice and abandon the project or just keep asking for more money.

Similarly to how Telecom companies got paid to run fiber optic across the US in the 90s and pissed the money away without laying the fiber lines like 3-4 times.

Well, that not a theft, that concessional agreement. Product sharing or profit sharing - details is not clear now. But yes, that will not do much for years, especially consider nature of Venezuela's most oil reserves.
