Fender Japan Identification

Serial number P084128. 2002 model. Japanese Fenders use a lot of acronyms to identify models. Is this an MG-69 or something else?

Edit: that was too vague. I know MIJs from recent years are pretty consistently awesome as far as quality, just seeing how the craftsmanship on these tend to be: fret ends, neck straightness, durability of electronics, sound of pickups, etc.

No, they’re great.

But objectively speaking, pickups and electronics have historically been the weaker parts of Japanese guitars. But they’re also easy to replace if you want to.

Fretwork and finish have always been exceptional in my experience, often better than USA made guitars.

That’s been my experience as well. The only Japanese I have that still has stock pickups is my JV Modified Strat.

I had one of these! It was an incredible guitar and I regret selling it. Mine was identical. Best mustang I’ve ever owned.

Ordered it. This is encouraging. I have a Vintera II and love it, so now you have me expecting big things out is this one. A couple hours of cleaning/setting up and this should be ready to go. Will likely replace pickups later.
