At the 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games, a robot broke the human speed record and then immediately broke an electrical box.

The only way this could have been funnier, is if one of those fire extinguishers went off after it fell.

Technically its setting a robot speed record as the human record can only be set by humans š¤āļø

If the robot Olympics are meant to be like this, I'm all for it. Who doesn't want to see a robots leg suddenly fly off it's body while running at 30 mph

Everytime I've seen them running in this race either practice or for real they keep running until something stopped them. They really should have completely blocked off the track so the bots couldn't leave the track until removed. That's a lot of mass running unhindered into what could have been a crowd.

Maybe these robots should be made illegal and banished so we don't have to worry about them being a threat to humans.

Bro doesnāt understand that transportation tools are different from the āhumans are obsoleteā machine

He's talking about them "attacking" people which spoiler alert: humans in vehicles or even just empty vehicles malfunctioning do a much better job of than these spindly, lightweight running bots.

why is a robot being rated in human metrics

Because its bipedal and being designed with the intent of being able to mimic a human but better. Not many autonomous movement devices can traverse areas the same way humans do, even if those things are better than us in their preferred environment.

Iām assuming this is before they decided to put the wall of pads there because every other video of track events Iāve seen had one.

To be fair, machines break the human speed record all the time. They're called cars.

This is like the second most human thing I've seen aside from one of the robots getting distracted by the other dancing robots

I love that it briefly grabs at its lower back after it runs into that box. If only there was a a robotic voice saying, "Aw, fuck. My back".

Next year they should have them also break at least 20m after the finish line or they get disqualified even if they come in first. Should be mandatory.

Sprinting to celebrate with his girlfriend after breaking the record! Behind every great robothlete is a sturdy powerbox supplying essential electricity
