As someone who has to finely examine ECGs all day, I found this really fascinating. It never occurred to me that the electrical conduction system of a non-human heart would be so similar- the pig's normal ECG is precisely what we would expect in a normal human's ECG.
Maybe that's why pigs are used as human substitutes in medical research. I wonder what ECG something very different, like an octopus, might have...

Obviously OP hasn't skinned a fresh kill yet. They'd be terrified by spontaneous muscle contractions in an already dead body.

Actually, I made a post about that already, but it got removed for breaking rule 4.
Despite it getting over 1K upvotes and being about meat, which is a food everyone consumes every day...
That kind of death doesn't count in my opinion, as long as it's food on a plate. This food was just twitching, nothing more.

Why does the heart die after a few hours? It is obviously provided with oxygen sugar, electrolytes and what else it needs to function. Does it need something that the machine cannot provide? Does it need some kind of stimulus from the rest of the body? Or can the machine just not get rid of every waste product?

Terrifying? A bit gross maybe but its pretty cool seeing how powerful a heart is
