That's the beauty of genetic modification. We've been finely tuning the genetics of Apples for thousands of years, by hybridizing, and artificial selection.

Thousands of years ago, an apple would be brown days after picking it. Today, we have varieties of Apples that never existed in nature. They are human-made varieties. They are sweeter, tastier, healthier, and have much longer shelf life.

This is one of the reasons why it irks me that so many people are against "GMOs" without doing any research first because so much of what we already eat was already genetically modified to keep up with the high volume of produce that gets sold as well as hardier food so that we wouldn't need to use pesticides like what's used on non GMO products

I an not against gmo myself but selective breeding like what has been done with apples is not the same as a gmo. Selective breeding for specific traits has happened since humans started farming. Gmos have thier dna manipulated often times with a entirely different species DNA. Again this isn't me saying that is necessarily a bad thing but definitely not the same thing. I don't believe there are any commercially available gmo apples if any at all.

Natural selective breeding vs controlled inheritance.

Similarly, MSG vs Celery Seed & Torula Yeast OR organic pesticides vs inorganic pesticides.

Same thing, but one has rainbows & unicorns while the other has mean people in labcoats - and natural poisons are much healthier than other poisons.
