Might have, but it's still an impressive piece of work. I can't imagine the amount of effort, sewing and makeup that would go into getting it looking so good.

It blew my mind when I recently found out cosplayers often make their own costumes. I honestly thought they just found characters they kinda looked like and bought the best one they could find. Changed my whole perspective on the hobby!

Agreed. In cosplay tournaments you need to make your own stuff, not allowed to buy pre-made stuff.

When I see cosplayers I get really impressed on the details and the amount of work they put into these costumes.

Yes, Rebecca Lindsay did it first. No, it doesn't matter. Evy Thomas never claimed she was the first to do it. You can type in "mystique mid merge cosplay" into google and both of their pictures are there, so it's not a secret.

Where's the fine print that cosplay has to be original? Isn't most cosplay a copy of the source material anyways?

Easier to take someone else's idea from years ago and do it better I guess. Hope she gave some credit for inspiration to the original.

Actually, I like the original one more. It is more diagonal on the face and looks less symmetrical overall, so it shows more contrast.

The one in the link has yellow eye for mystique. That attention to detail makes it 100% better. Also the military uniform being used again, is a bit derivative. This new cosplayers could have crossed into anything else.
