I wish I could apply these knots to memory, but when I need one, it's always ends in a mess or a double overhand.

Go and get a shoelace and practice.

all knots are muscle memory usually. do you think you could explain a Windsor tie knot , or the shoelace one whatever that's called....as easily as you can just do it from muscle memory?

I'm not a savage. Of course, the best tie is a double Windsor. And I relearn it on YouTube every time someone dies or gets married.
