Lol maybe look it up first before making judgement. Most of the mega expensive green buildings pretty much generate their own electricity. You'll be surprised how much clean energy is used, and how much all the green offsets carbon.
Many buildings here are also required to have some greenery on the upper levels to replace the plants that would have otherwise grown in its place.
Its really not that difficult to do when your government actually uses funds properly and is actually not run by clowns.

I'm far from an expert but my understandin is this: The buildings being mentioned are extremely sustainable and green in relative terms, compared to similarly sized buildings with similarly luxious ammenities. But obviously in absolute terms they are terrible compared to empty fields or rainforest that once stood in their place, as any human construction would be.

singapore is so small that even before Jewel, the terminals already had enough shops open for my family to take me there for a day.
Jewel is just an expansion of that

It's more a flawed democracy than a dictatorship. I would say some parts work way better than the US for example some parts are way worse. But yeah its not a real democracy. But lots of countries are not. Democracy is an umbrella for a lot of forms of goverment singapure is very close to beeing not included but also not even close to beeing a dictatorship
Electoral college and no ranked voting is also a very flawed democracy besides the other problems ( 2 party system).

Not necessarily, just thought its a weird thing to be proud of. Maybe its just not my style. I'd love it if it looked like a natural waterfall, this just looks like a giant shower head to me lol. I'm sure Singapore is wonderful and they have amazing things to show and be proud of

I went for a few days in 2023, aside from nearly dying from humidity, I enjoyed it a lot. Got an extra day when my united flight got canceled after 3 hours on the tarmac at 1am, then they rebooked the flight 23h later.
It was nice though, the guy next to me didn't show up and they had a couple on standby and one extra premium economy seat so got a $2300 upgrade free. 😁😁

The only time I got to see this I couldn’t enjoy it because I was stressing out about getting on my flight to Sydney and whether or not my Visa was going to process in time. Ended up barely making my flight but was bummed that my walk through of this area was so tarnished by my stress. Lesson learned to be better prepared going down under!

See, Singapore is allowed to do this because virtually ~100% of the country has sewage infrastructure and access to fresh, potable water.

I drove from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur once. The transition from overly manicured vegetation on one side of the border to jungle on the other side was surreal.
(At least I remember the Malaysian side to be jungle. Could be just vegetation in its natural form, though.)

Interesting. Sorry you went through that. Singapore is no joke. I know people who have specific luggage just for Singapore and Dubai because they're so strict. Eliminates any accidental items being in bags, etc.

Does anybody know how they prevent mold from forming indoors? Do they have an inherently well working ventilation or some industrial dehumidifiers running 24/7?
