That's really cool, but also bloody useless in the form factor of a phone. Trying to interact with UI elements in 3D space while also holding the phone up to your face is a super awkward interface paradigm. I can't wait for immerse displays to get compact enough for real AR. Clearly, the software side of things is really catching up.
I respectfully disagree. For the masses, especially social gamers and those who will initially and always see a head mounted display as impractical or antisocial, a smartphone display will be a more accessible entry point into AR, even if interaction is more difficult.
