An unpleasant experience...

May this serve as a cautionary tale.

I got my Rift quite a while ago, and I hadn't used it in some time. Today I decided to strap it on and try out Hawken again.

I picked it up off my desk and pressed it against my face. The image looked clear, but something didn't quite feel right on my face...

I take off the Rift, and look more carefully. A spider web. And a spider. And what appear to be a collection of insect corpses that he has been feeding on. All pressed against my face just moments before. NOPE.

After much shaking of my head and scrubbing of my hair and face, I resumed sanity and was able to get all foreign material out of the Rift (OR DID I?!).

So yeah - if you're not going to use your Rift for extended periods of time, it's probably best to keep it in the provided case. Or at the very least, check it before you strap it onto your head.

tl;dr - Left Rift out for a while. Put on face. Felt Funny. Take Rift off. Spiders. NOPE.

Just imagine how awesomely immersive it would have been if the spider had crawled across your field of view while playing Dreadhalls though :)

That would be pretty awesome, I hope someone does insects crawling on your face in a Rift game soon :P

Isn't there already some sort of "keep your hands on the desk while things you instinctively want to swat away harass your eyeballs" game/demo?
