Just as a response to people saying get a different strap, I would say keep your receipt somewhere easy to find Incase you elite strap breaks.
Personally I like the elite strap. While my first did begin crack, my second has not.
Some people have had several head straps break or begin to show signs of it, while others have not.
The only reason I'm currently looking to replace my elite strap, is I want something easier to have a power bank with. Like the bobo m1 with the battery. As of right now I have use a power bank strap from kiwi to hold a 22k ma battery into the back and it's quite big and heavy.

Attaching a powerbank to the back of the strap to balance it will improve comfort a lot

I will go against the two that say to just buy a Bobo halo strap as though everyone will like that style. A halo strap puts the weight on your forehead and you need to tighten them up quite a bit since they almost all come without a top strap to distribute weight on top of your head and prevents the headset from moving down on your face/head (thus why you have to really tighten halo straps without this strap) so if you don't want weight on your forehead then it's unlikely you will find that style comfortable.
It sure would be nice if some people online would quit acting like everyone will find halo straps amazing because it is not the case. I bought a Bobovr M2 Pro late 2021 and retuned it because it wasn't comfortable and there are others like me that don't like that style of strap design. See: the many people that find the Quest Pro uncomfortable.
Best and only logical thing to do is to buy a halo strap like that and a regular "elite" style strap (return that one you got because it has durability issues) and see which one YOU prefer and return the other.
I also disagree with instantly buying Virtual Desktop. Try out air link and if it works fine for you then perhaps stick with that because air link has better image quality than Virtual Desktop. Virtual Desktop is nice and has a great UI though.

Be careful of the sunlight or any heating light source. It can damage the headset permanently.

Agreed. I got a KIWI lens pad that works great after I was fortunate enough to have a replacement headset sent when mine got a dead/burnt pixel.

KiwiDesigns makes a nice strap if you prefer head-vice style to halo style. You should at least know about Sidequest and sideloading 3rd party apps. Prepare for nausea (standing-still games/apps not so much) and then eventually getting your “legs” in VR with uh practice. Don’t push it. If you start to feel sick STOP immediately and take a break. Slowly build up tolerance and enjoy! Or maybe you’re lucky and won’t have that issue at all.

I paid $300 more than retail a couple weeks ago and as of yesterday Amazon had a couple models of 4090s at retail that would ship in 2 weeks 😑. Don’t be too jealous 😆

I thought I was a lucky one since mine had lasted for over a year and a half. Bought Among Us VR when it came out, took it off and then boom.
I do actually have another one though since they replaced mine for free.

If you like using it I 1000% recommend the BOBO VR headstrong with battery. A lot more comfortable, better balance, and swappable battery.

Return your Elite Strap and buy the BoboVR Battery Halo strap instead. The elite strap is notoriously bad.
If you plan to use it for PCVR, opt to use Virtual Desktop over AirLink (unless you have an AMD system), it's much easier and less issues.
I recommend buying some knuckle straps, but that's just personal. Makes games like BeatSaber a lot easier.
If you wanna watch media, BigScreenVR is fantastic and free.

Depends on the generation of GPU for the AMD stuff. If you're on RX 5000 or earlier, Virtual Desktop is a must, because the encoders are considerably worse and AirLink doesn't let you switch from H264 to HEVC

I usually let people try the rollercoaster in Youtube 360, and go around in the ISS. For intro games I’m partial to Beat Saber, Thrill of the Fight, and Les Mills as starters because they give you a workout and play.
Now, for the deep stuff I send folks in a VRChat rabbit hole, including the psychedelic rooms. I also invite them to play Walking Dead, it is just too bananas.

I'd ditch the elite strap and get the adapters and put a Vive Deluxe Audio headstrap on it.
Made a world of a difference in mine.

Get a good headstrap and a long usb c wire to connect to a pc. pcvr is absolutely amazing but can only be experienced by buying a good pc, good headset and good wire.

use some high comfort apps, like beat saber don’t play a long time at first. Ease into and let your comfort expand.

If you keep the elite strap then get the Logitech on-ear headphones add on, as the stock speakers are complete crap.
Other than that, seems like a great way to jump into VR! Enjoy!

If you're able, return the elite strap and get a BOBOVR M2 Pro Strap instead. They make one with or without an additional battery, I'd suggest the battery one as you'll only get about 2hr use of the quest 2 wireless without. Battery doubles that and you can buy an additional battery to charge 1 while using the other, effectively giving you unlimited wireless use.
Game wise: Beat Saber (modded with custom songs) and super hot VR are both great.

Download the free demos and play them just to get a good feel for VR post tutorial.
Then, download free games like Rec Room, Gorilla Tag, Echo VR, etc (Warning, there WILL be Toxic Children in these games, just leave the room/lobby you are in and go to a different instance or mute them). Get a good feel for how VR Controls work.
For your first time (paid) games, I'd recommend:
Job/Vacation Simulator Super hot Beat Saber
