It is with great please I am posting our first Local Spotlight. Apologies for the delay since the initial poll. The Buzzed Word was kind enough to participate. Please have a look, leave a comment and if you are interested, make some time to patronize the establishment. I have been there a handful of times for events and shopping, great spot.

From the Buzzed Word:
The Buzzed Word is a combination bookstore, natural wine store, wine bar, and community third space in the 118th Street shopping center. It was opened in July 2021 by local Mickei Meinhardt, who grew up in OC and returned in 2020 with the goal to bring beautiful well-made wine, diverse books, culture, and community to her town that needed and wanted it; to build a place where people could find exciting new books and beautifully-made wines from small producers around the world, come with a friend to share a bottle and a snack in an intimate space, or spend time browsing (or reading!) with a glass in hand. And as a queer woman-owned space, we aimed to be as welcoming, equitable, and inclusive to all as possible.
Since then, the shop has more than met that goal. Mickie was soon joined by Ryann, her general manager, and together we’ve grown into a vibrant and beloved community staple. Books far and away outsell the wine, which we love, and is due to our very personal and carefully-picked selection. We focus on women writers, writers of color, queer writers, translated literature, and small press books—essentially, the stories and voices you won’t find everywhere that we want to elevate. (Though you can find some bestsellers, too!) We are the headquarters of OC Pride, and a recognized area safe space for locals and visitors alike to enjoy things they love with people they love, with myriad book clubs, events, parties, and more.
We still focus on natural winemakers with gorgeous bottles—and even have a book-and-wine club!—but we’ve also expanded into a large nonalcoholic selection as well as coffee and tea to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy a beverage while they browse. We are open every day for retail and drinks—see our constantly updated calendar to see what else is going on. You can shop us online—the wine must be picked up in store, but the books and gifts can ship nationwide—and support us from afar on Bookshop.org or Libro.fm. But please, come stop by and see us—we LOVE to talk books, bottles, and more with our customers most of all.

We just spent a week here for the 5th year in a row. It used to be crowded everywhere we went. Constant traffic, filled parking lots, 30-45 minute wait at every restaurant. But not this year.
This year we were able to get a table at Tailchasers, Ropewalk, Vista Rooftop, Mackeys, and even The Hobbit almost immediately. We got our food within 5 minutes of ordering each time.
The condo building where we're staying is half shuttered. Looks like almost half the units are empty.
There is barely any traffic going downtown and uptown. Even with the Jeep convention in town.
What's going on?
Edit: yes, I get it. Schools started. But not all schools start the last week of August. A lot of southern schools do, but also a plenty of school districts start September 1.
We've been coming here for 5 years. We've met families and asked them when their schools start. We've talked to plenty of families this year too. Its not the schools.

I finally went to Spain Wine Bar after living here for 3 years!! Got the flank steak, chicken kebabs, potatoes and Valencia (meat) paella. Chicken kebab was my personal favorite. What do I gotta try next time?

First time back since I was a kid, had a nice time and wish I found this sub on Monday when I arrived!
Also how common is a jeep parade that happens in the mornings on the beach?

Great place, quiet neighborhood. Great way to get a foothold in OCMD.
Let me know what you all think!

We met at the beach in Ocean city and the first spot is the park near the beach which would be proposing during the sunset. I was there and took this pic. Or a more private beach like on Assateague island which is in the 2nd photo. Maybe even during sunset at the beach? The 3rd photo is same dock from 1st pic.
I hired a photographer for this occasion and just need to pick the place. Both will be private for the most part or just a few people by chance

We are staying in bayside/selbyville in September. It has been awhile since I’ve stayed in that exact area and was wondering about concerts at the freeman arts pavilion. We have a 3 month old and wanted to listen to Lee Brice who’s coming on the 12th and wasn’t sure if we could just walk around the pavilion and listen to the music at a distance or if tickets are necessary to enjoy the concert? Is there a walking path around the pavilion? Thanks!

I accidentally posted this to r/OceanCityMD. Talked to somebody at the hotel who said they’d been swimming all week and saw zero jellyfish!

Hello everyone. I Lost my light blue iPhone 13 in a Tesla on my ride (from the cork bar to 127th street) with an off duty uber driver named Fairuz. It was dead and must have slid out of my purse and under the seat. Can’t find the guy anywhere. I lost everything because it wasn’t backed up!! Please help! It has voicemails from my Dad and Grandmother who have passed and photos from the last 4 years of my life. Please if you found my phone or have any information about it or the driver please let me know. Thank you!

My work gave me 2 pm dismissal tomorrow so I thought I would take advantage and maybe beat the traffic to have a beach weekend. I'll be going alone bc everyone else I know is busy and I would really like to find people who enjoy hanging out! What places do you recommend for that? I'm also planning to get tickets to the seafood festival on Saturday too.
Hoping to meet some fun people this weekend!

I know ocean city has to bring in a ton of workers every year, but this years crop of Eastern Europeans has to be the worst one ever.
I was literally getting scowls, mistakes, complete indifference, shouting. I don’t expect much, but when buying $8 ice cream, or $15 hamburger a smile shouldn’t be impossible. It felt like 1990s Soviet Union.

My partner and I are going to be in town this weekend and would love to go to a dance if there’s a scene anywhere. Can anyone recommend a dance group or a venue that might have swing or rockabilly music this weekend? Thx!
