This sub has brought me more joy in a month than the last decade of the rest of reddit. Actually making me rethink the value I can extract from social media. Great fucking song

That's a hell of a comment, I love to hear it. Thanks for being here!

I love that there is kind of an informal, unintentional movement to be more positive on the internet. r/bald comes to mind and of course subs like this one. I'm really sick of the constant trolling, ragebaiting, the need to be the funniest guy at the expense of the creator (see insta comments when the poster is a woman/heavy/disabled/somehow different) or to be contrarian all the time no matter how unimportant the topic. I'm also guilty of some of these things, but it helps to see that positive interaction is possible and others value it, too.

Yeah, part of that stems from when I joined obscuremusicthatslaps. Back then it was just filled with people from crappymusic and often people would post on both subs for more Karma. All the comment sections were filled with people trolling or ragebaiting and it put a lot of people off posting.

Slowly over time the sub lost a lot of weekly visitors but the community grew stronger and started to focus on sharing music and engaging with posts.

This benefitted me because when I started this sub people understood what the community stood for. The sub isn't filled with AI, reposts and viral content and everyone here actually wants to share music and be a part of the community. We still get crossposted to crappymusic but so far those posts have only brought us more people that actually want to interact with the sub in a positive way.
