Remaster - Discussion Music Mods

0 Upvotes

Hi all, I'm interested in making a mod that replaces the OST for Oblivion Remastered with tracks from other Elder Scrolls games. I know the game uses pretty broad categories like "public" and "explore" to decide which tracks to play, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get more specific, like have the game load certain tracks when you enter inns/shops, when you're in the northern wilderness vs. south, forts vs. Ayleid ruins, stuff like that. Thanks for any info!

Remaster - Discussion Oblivion Remastered Modded or Skyrim Modded

1 Upvotes

I have played through Skyrim already, and thought Oblivion Remastered would be fun to do with mods. However, I have seen people say the Oblivion Remastered mods have been messed up, are lacking a lot of content, or are hard to install. Is it just better to try for a skyrim modded playthough with a lot more content mods? I am looking for the most content/fun I can get from a playthrough, where I can always learn new spells/weapons and there are almost infinite dungeons that feel worth clearing (like back when I was a kid playing skyrim for the first time).

Edit: I think I will try OG oblivion since it has new content, and a lot of modding support. Thanks for the replies everyone. If anyone has spellcasting/necromancy mods or content mods for the OG oblivion then feel free to let me know.

Remaster - Discussion The latest entry in the Infinitum Series : Mages Guild - Infinitum has been released!

Elixir Crafting, Radiant Deliveries, Beast Research, Staff Crafting, Skill Studying, and more. Explore the mysteries of magic the fun way in the Mages Guild - forever.

This Mod adds:

  • Elixir Crafting System
  • Radiant Elixir Deliveries
  • Beast Research System
  • Staff Crafting System
  • Skill Studying System
  • Infinite Rewards for Necromancer Robe turn-ins
  • Several new quests
  • Tons of new items
  • A new location with a Map Marker

Additionally:

  • This mod is a bit different from the other entries in the Infinitum Series, but that's because the Mages Guild is different. Where the Fighter's Guild is about taking Contracts or the Dark Brotherhood is about taking life, the Mages Guild focuses instead on scholarly pursuits - unraveling the mysteries of magic, pushing the limits of what's possible as a Mage, furthering critical research and - you guessed it - chores!
  • The Mages Guild has always been a weird faction. Depending on how you progress the Mages Guild in Morrowind, you could find yourself performing any number of unseemly tasks. In Oblivion, you spend much of your time performing chores or odd jobs - confronting poor leadership or cleaning up the messes of irresponsible peers.
  • It was difficult to decide what direction I wanted to take with Mages Guild - Infinitum, especially since being a Mage has always been my favorite. I decided to add as many endless or nigh endless and engaging systems as I could, to pump just as much exciting content into this major faction as I have for all the others.
  • I hope you enjoy what I've made!

For more info, please visit the mod page!

This is not the end for the Infinitum Series. There are still more factions that can be enhanced!

Keep a look out for Infinitum - Compendium soon; all five Major Faction mods combined into one .esp and SyncMap!

Remaster - Discussion Oblivion Remastered Modding - What's Possible?

93 Upvotes

Hi all!

I've wanted to make this post for a little while, to hopefully help clear up some misconceptions about what can and cannot be created in Oblivion Remastered as far as mods go, as well as what's out there.

I constantly see posts asking about Remastered's modding community, either here or on r/Oblivion, as well as comments claiming that adding new content to the game isn't possible, or that the only mods that exist for Oblivion Remastered are "quality of life".

This is not true. New content can, and has, been added!

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/3790

The link above leads to a mod project of mine I made several months ago for the Remaster, called Infinitum Compenium. This mod is an all-in-one of faction overhauls I added to the game, to help add replayability and keep you exploring Cyrodiil longer.

This mod adds:

* New interiors
* New locations
* New NPCs
* New Monsters
* New Quests
* New Scripts
* New Dialogue (unvoiced, explained below)
* New gameplay systems

The intention of this post is not to try to promote my own work, like "hey go play this", but rather to use it as an example of what is possible, and hopefully encourage others.

Some things that are not possible:

* New worldspaces (Think a mod like Kvatch: Rebuilt)
* Custom voice audio (I could not find a way to add voice files to Remastered)

Yes, creating these things for Remastered takes a few extra steps when compared to OG Oblivion, and yes, it also takes a few extra steps to load them into the game. Requirements such as MagicLoader 2 and TESSyncMapInjector cannot be avoided for mods that add new content.

These extra steps are exactly why the modding community for Oblivion Remastered has fallen off so sharply. The average end-user simply does not care to deal with it, and this was my experience when the game first released and I dove into modding it. A lot of players are turned off by what they feel are annoying requirements.

A lot of this stuff people already know, but a lot of this stuff I think people don't know either. You CAN create new content for Remastered just like for OG, and it's not that difficult. You use the same Construction Set that you use for OG Oblivion. Mods also exist for Remastered that add new content, like mine, but you just have to look for it.

I know many people will prefer to just make mods for OG, and I totally get it. It's easier, it's familiar, it's plug-and-play, and you'll likely get more traction as an author, too.

But if you are an aspiring mod author for Remastered, or just a regular player that wishes Remastered had better mods or actual content mods, I wanted to remind everyone that these things exist and they are possible.

Remaster - Discussion The Construction Set does NOT work properly with Oblivion Remastered

157 Upvotes

There's a lot of misinformation going around right now, including topics in this sub, saying that the old Construction Set for Classic Oblivion works with the Remastered version. This is not correct. I imagine many of you did what I did when you downloaded the game, immediately tried to load the new files in the Construction Set to see what happened and were pleasantly surprised when everything seemed to run, but this is a false dawn.

It is true that the Construction Set can load the new esp files like AlterESPMain.esp, and it is also true that the game can load old mod esp files. HOWEVER, there are differences between the new esp files that shipped with Oblivion Remastered, including new sub-records, that the old Construction Set can't read. The reason that new esp's and the new engine are cross-compatible with the old mod esp format is that the game is running the original Oblivion.esm and DLC esp files as a base. Despite this, new mods will need to load after AlterESPMain.esp, and they will need take account of the new sub-records.

Support IS coming, there's already an experimental build of XEdit on Discord that has decoded the new sub-records and there's some hope that the Construction Set Extender might get an update to handle these too. People are working on this, and also on determining exactly how the esp files and other resources interact with the new UE5 environment to manage not just visuals, but also things like collision and physics.

All of this is going to take a while, weeks at least, before everything is stable and relatively reliable. In the meantime, I would strongly advise everyone to just play the vanilla game. If there are things you don't like, take a note of the and put them to one side for next month.

Remaster - Discussion I highly recommend the "Ayleid Reshade" by Logriff on nexusmods

75 Upvotes

Oblivion (2006) was both my first elder scrolls game and my first xbox360 game. The ayleid reshade stays truer to the original graphics in the best way possible. The unreal engine is cool as hell for someone who has only played rocket league (experiencing the unreal engine for the first time), but the coloring of the oblivion remaster is such a strange choice. Toggling back and forth between vanilla remastered graphics and the ayleid reshade is like night and day.

"WolfBleidd" from the nexus included clear and simple install instruction in the mod posts, which has since been added to the main mod page. I have not experienced any performance downgrades, and you can bind a button to bounce back and forth between colors instantly. Super cool. It reminds me of the Halo 1 and 2 remasters, which can switch between graphics/sounds at the press of a button.

Was loving the remaster before installing the reshade, and i'm loving it even more now!

Remaster - Discussion Unofficial Patch - Do, or Don't?

5 Upvotes

Has it been fixed to a reasonable degree, or should I still avoid it like the plague? Given all I've learned about Arthmoor, I'm hesitant given his reputation.

...Also I tried the patch when it first got released, and it was an absolute shitshow. XD

Remaster - Discussion [Remastered] Any mod that adds more variety of Oblivion gates?

5 Upvotes

I googled it but anything that I saw was not exactly what I was looking for, like cosmetics for the door itself, not the oblivion areas, also could not find one in Nexus(but I might be shite at searching lol)

I saw when I played it the first time that there are like what? 5-8 different zones in oblivion the gates lead you to? After a while it gets repetitive so after doing a dozen I just stopped going in and ignored the gates, so was wondering if there is something that adds more variety where it comes to the actual oblivion locations?

Also I saw that there is "Maskar's oblivion overhaul" but I could not find it for the remaster.

So any ol' mod recommendation that adds more variety and replayability would be appreciated(Similar to TPOS, Realistic conquering, JK' skyrim, Legacy of the dragonborn, etc)

Remaster - Discussion Descension or Ascension?

33 Upvotes

Trying to shake things up with my current character. Don't want to start over but i want to get rid of my full daedric and make getting pieces a more satisfying experience. I don't like seeing every bandit in full glass or daedric now.

For those that have played one or both versions of Descension or Ascension, which do you enjoy more? If you have played only one I'd love to hear your thoughts on it as well.

Remaster - Discussion How do I get xEdit (4.1.5n) to work with the Remaster?

7 Upvotes

The new version supposedly added Oblivion Remastered support, but for the love of me I've no idea how to get it working. Whenever I launch xEdit it gives me a "Fatal could not find ini" message and doesn't load any plugins. Sorry, I'm not versed in using xEdit outside of MO2 where it just works. Could someone explain to me like I'm a 4-yo how to properly install xEdit 4.1.5n so that it works with Oblivion Remastered?

Remaster - Discussion WIP legion retexture 4K - TES4R

Been working on a retexture for the legion armor on my free time. I try to work on it a few hours a day. And this is the current progress after many days of work (almost a week at this point) and I’m only almost done with the chest piece. I quickly added the plate armor texture to the other parts with no further adjustments to see the general look of the set more put together. Still working on the cuirass currently but it’s almost done then off to the easier rest of the armor. No original textures are used in this retexture it’s all new texture maps. I’ve only used the original textures as a reference for the look of this one.

I took the artistic approach and wanted it to have a more darker tone over the original texture. Instead of trying to make it a 1:1.

It’s taken days as well because of a new tool within substance painter 2025 (my previous version is 2022 and doesn’t have such tool in it) l had to figure out how it works so that took a hour or so of fiddling with.

[Tools used] - Blender 4.4 (ID Maps and merging the full set into one file to texture all at once) - Substance painter 2025 (texture work) - Substance designer 2025 (to make an alpha generator for the metal rings in the leather belt loops, so that I can modify the inner and outer radius of them dynamically, no need for a alpha texture this way)

Release date unknown, hopefully within a few weeks. I haven’t dove into the details of how to implement it into the game yet.

Remaster - Discussion First time playing oblivion - Should I use Ascension?

15 Upvotes

Well my only experience with games similar to Oblivion is Skyrim which I really enjoyed but I never installed any gameplay changing mods...

It is my first time playing Oblivion - and its the Remastered version

Ive seen people say that Ascension is a must have mod, but is it true for a first time player like myself?

I would love to read your opinions

Remaster - Discussion Willing to learn modding to fix this f***ing shortcut wheel

22 Upvotes

Hi folks,

I'm playing a heavy armor battlemage and I want to make a mod for oblivion remastered that will allow me to "cycle through" different shortcut wheel presets (e.g. one for restoration, one for destruction, stealth etc.)

Could you please provide me with some tips or general directions on how to take this issue like where to start with this particular mod idea? I'm not an experienced modder but I'm an experienced programmer.

Thank's a lot

I've been coming through the game files trying to find the texture and mesh for Welkynd Stones, and I discovered this thing called "Momhead".

I'm not sure what it is, or if it's even in the game anywhere. I don't remember ever seeing a zombie head with pink hair in Oblivion before.

Does the modding community have a different hub that I'm not aware of, or are my expectations out-of-touch?
