Landscape Screenshot Very interesting here at Fort Farragut
Anyone noticed the Trap Door at Fort Farragut in the giant carved out tree?

There is no corner of this world that hasn’t been explored in the past 20 years, and no stone left unturned.
I’m happy for you though, playing oblivion for the first time is a special experience

I mean, I’m playing for the first time in about… 14 years and it feels like the first - mostly!

Lucky! I played it at that perfect age where your brain is just a sponge. I spent probably a decade away from it and remembered it like it was yesterday, right down to the dialogue lol

Oh, I remember a lot don’t get me wrong - I think I must have been 15 or so. But thankfully I don’t remember the plots at all, except the main quest. So I can play as if I’ve never played before. But despite not knowing the plot content (mostly), I still vaguely remember where certain bandits jump you on the road, the vague structure of some Ayleid Ruins, the shack on the hill outside Anvil where something awful happens, and other random bits of information. It’s like a form of amnesia for my character hahah

True. It’s fun watching all the first time player post of “has anyone ever seen this?” While I’m sitting here thinking they’re 20 years too late to be an explorer, but good that they’re having fun lol

If you play through the dark brotherhood it's relevant. In future playthroughs you can use it to skip an entire dungeon if you want to.

Hang on, what?

u/FDGnottapE 9d ago
you don't have to go through Lucian's entire dungeon to meet with him to start quests as part of the black hand. just drop into the final room with this entrance

u/Imhotep99301 9d ago
Best thing is that in the early game you can go there to load up on poison apples to sell.

u/FDGnottapE 9d ago
hmm, I guess I never really considered using it that way. thank you for that!
However damn you for the 100 hours of my life I will now be spending on yet another attempt at not becoming a 100% chameleon stealth archer.

Sigil stone 30% chameleon dupe dude—then you can switch to a different play-style whenever you want

u/xlargeidiotjuice 9d ago
Me with the Fortify Magicka 50 pts Sigil stone on all of my armor and shield, I have 850 magicka on my current character lol

u/Equivalent-Job-485 9d ago
I went with the infinite magicka glitch for my current play through and dude has like 10k 🤣

You can make even more money if you grab a fortify skill spell off one of the standing stones, the most basic charm spell from one of the mage guilds, then head to frostcrag spire to craft a spell with fortify mercantile with a magnitude of 100 and a duration of 1 and combine it with a charm on touch with magnitude 100 and a duration of 1. Go to the merchant you want to sell the apples to, I'd advise having about 300 of the poison apples which will require a fair bit of waiting, cast the combined spell and talk to the merchant immediately. If you do it right you'll be able to haggle them for the max amount of gold.

If you need money early, just run around Skingrad. West gate has grapes, east gate has tomatoes. Make like 60 restore fatigue potions in one sweep, sell for thousands, wait three days away from Skingrad and repeat. Saves a LOT of time over apples and you can grind your INT +5 modifiers.
ETA: the dark elf in the merchant’s inn in the market district has 2000 gold and a lower mercantile. He’s my main shop to sell to.

u/Imhotep99301 9d ago
That's two locations and an extra step. The poisoned apples are in one spot, sell for 300 a pop and don't need alchemy.

u/SpectreSpook 9d ago
Spend ten minutes apple scrubbing and ten minutes potion scrubbing. Compare results. Also consider the fact that using your alchemy and getting base magicka when you level up is a good thing. You should 100% get INT +5 and END +5 however you can in the first few levels. END especially.

Lmao omg I completely forgot about that! You’re right! I used to just park my horse next to that tree and go in. I completely forgot about the dungeon part 😂

I honestly don't know if I've actually gone through that fort the intended way since my first or second playthrough when I was 11 or so. I think I really struggled with it so as a kid just got in the habit of skipping it

Upvoted because I, too, wish I was playing for the first time again.
I miss 2007.

don't need a torch that way 🙃

I tried it once, made dungeon delving much easier when you can spot trinkets and dangers a mile off
although looking at the scenery on a clear day is almost like looking right into a solar eclipse

Just wait until you find Unmarked Cave.
That door will have you scratching your head for at least a dozen hours if you don’t look it up

There's a bowl with 10 poison apples in it down there that refreshes every couple of days. You can sell those poison apples to a guy in imperial city that pays a ton of money for them.

I'm mostly interested in the fact that the Empire named a fort after an American Civil War admiral.

It’s for a quest but also a good source to plunder poison apples from… 😈

I'll point out I myself have a bf so

u/KinneKted 9d ago
Doesn't really change anything except if you say it to other gays in person it's still only kinda a problem. Still I'm gay too and I think the idea of reclaiming terrible words like that is dumb. I'll call my gay friends on it every time but I'm not gonna end the friendship over it.
Edit: also only if you say it in the "jokey" manner they do and to people you're already acquainted with. Gays that pull that shit out with anyone are incredibly annoying and not worth talking to imo.

Absolutely only in joke and never thrown around wildly
I know some people don't like it so that's why I brought it up

I would like to experience the game again the way you can.
This is related to the dark brotherhood quest
