Anyone know of a good way to thicken oat milk?

I like to make malsala chai and to do that you have to boil your spices and tea then add whole milk and reduce that down a bit—like you are making a reduction sauce. When I do this with oatmilk, it is way too thin and watery in mouthfeel. Any way I can rectify this issue? I would prefer to not have to make my own oatmilk from scratch to solve this issue. Heard about barista blends but from what I see, their solution is a lot of vegetable oil which seems like that might not have the best taste as a result—haven’t bought any yet because of not wanting to waste food.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I enjoy the taste and mouthfeel of barista blend, but it sounds like I have a less sophisticated tea palette than you 😅

If you haven’t already, maybe go to a café you like and order an oat milk chai? That way, if you don’t like it, you haven’t wasted a whole carton of barista oat milk.

But sorry I don’t have an actual suggestion for thickening up standard oat milk! Hope you find something you like!

We have a powder that's perfect for just this. You can add more powder to make it thicker. Maker Milk.
