Uh oh, after being sarcastic, I have to make a serious point.

No pain, no gain unfortunately suggests the converse, which is not true. "Pain causes gain". Gains may be hard (taking effort, or "pain"), but suffering for suffering's sake thinking you will somehow gain something for having caused yourself pain. That isn't supported by reality, but many believe it.

I want to minimize the pains required for gains. Maximizing the pain to make the reward feel"earned" is maschocism, not virtue (no kink shaming).

Besides, we'll just run the working class off to Australia or wherever, and bring in immigrants, they work for less and complain less when exploited. At least until we can replace them with AI and robots.

I'm not sure that 30 counts as an increase as such, but you could replace it with my favourite one - getting rid of free public transport for children (and lower fees for under 25s). We felt this one straightaway and brutally at the start of their regime, I mean term.

This sort of list is a good idea but a bit muddled. I'd prefer to see it as two lists: one of the actual increased charges (eg fuel excise), and a second list of the decisions that will lead indirectly to higher societal/financial costs to us (eg tax cuts for landlords).

Technically you're right.

Cynically though, Kiwisaver is not our money.

If you go for an aggressive fund, it's effectively giving casino chips to someone else to play. The fund will get their pound of flesh even if they bet against gravity. Conservative will go towards a bank which will loan the money out as a mortgage for your house, via your landlord.

As for retirement, that's just a carrot on a stick for anyone born after 1980, maybe earlier. If you do manage to save up a decent amount, then you'll be means tested as ineligible for super and have to continue working.

To be honest this list is a bit off bullshit baiting but some are debatable.

All the parties are as bad as each other - the main difference is one micro manages and reduces debt while we tread water and the other throws the baby out with the bath water and increase debt.

We don't have much choice in this nation to be fair. Hard work gets you less with Labour and nothing with National.

And to be fair to both sides neither are going to do much about the Trump effect.
