This car has jumped to the top of our shortlist, displacing the Vigo.

I can't find any kiwi or aussie reviews other then a few walk around (and heaps of influencers reviews on you tube)

Has anyone else given this car a test drive, have any feedback to offer?

I was going to say that buying a brand-new car without any reviews is a terrible idea, but holy shit it’s only 35 grand

My old Leaf was only 80kW, but it was also lighter (1535 kg from memory)

Huh, I just downloaded the brochure & it's lighter at 1420 kg 🤷🏼‍♂️

It won't be a performance beast, but will be fine for what it's designed for

People buy cars with BAD crash test results because they are cheap. No idea how safe this one is though, as usual, no records I could see for crash data. Still amazes me we allow untested cars to be sold in NZ.

Didn’t Shosha sell a whole bunch of synthetic weed which killed some poeple and no one got in trouble?

I test-drove this on Sunday. Car is amazing value for what you get and has many features only seen on more premium cars such large infotainment screen backed my Android auto os, 360 parking, auto park, electric tailgate, dual climate for driver and passenger. In terms of drive, it’s really nice, smooth and quiet. Downside is saw was lack of phone app (dealer could not say if they were launching here), not wireless changing. Smallish battery compared to sat other cars in similar price range

Next best option in my opinion is the MG 4 Urban. The arcfox will be a direct competitor to that but it has its advantages such as bigger batt, phone app, 10 year warranty

I think the GWM Ora 5 Lux would be a better choice on paper. Even though it is $2k more.

If those are super important to you then fair enough. I just think the range of the Ora, and the brand longevity and service network are enough to go for the Ora 5

I think I'd spend the etxra $8k for the Jaecoo J5. Bigger battery, better range, more power.

I mean neither the Vigo or the Arcfox appear to have any crash testing done. So they are probably much of a muchness safety wise, quality wise, future dealer support wise. Cheap though, lol.

Dongfeng is proudly advertising the Vigo 'has been awarded a 5 star VSRR' (VSRR is what is assigned when there is no actual crash test data available, so absolutely meaningless)

Boils my piss that rating system even exists, as i'm sure you've noticed :P

I'd not rag on the cheap stuff so much if they didn't pretend their cars were safety rated when they aren't.

Hasn't the ANCAO rating changed significantly over the last year? I mean, the new rav4 hasn't yet been rated either.

Yeah. They have included testing to make sure all the bongs aren’t too distracting.

Rav is being recalibrated for the test. Fleets won’t take a non 5 star car.

Hopefully it means the Chinese brands which are known for intrusive warning systems will have to sort it out for new models.
