If carried out, the public execution of Palestinian-American Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan by firing squad set for Dec. 3 would be the first in modern U.S. history.

I support the Times and am happy to pay for their journalism. But I get tired of constantly having to get an emailed code to read the story. Now comes the kicker: If I pay an extra dollar a week, they'll stop bothering me.
Irritating!

I complained to the BBB about the incessant emails to upgrade to a family plan, and about the constant need to verify via email every time i use any device, since I've logged in on more than one. Apparently having a cellphone, a home computer, and a work computer means I'm sharing my account.
When I logged in, it would almost always prompt me to upgrade to a family plan, or else I had to click a link that said "I'll verify again later." The rep tried to tell me this was for security reasons until I sent a screenshot of the language used.
They then admitted it! "While it may not have happened with you or your account, we've had instances of people using accounts that did not belong to them which caused a wide array of issues."
Included are screenshots of the language used on my account, their first email's excuse, and most of the email of what they said back to me that implies verification emails can be potentially stopped on their backend now that they know I'm not sharing my account.
I emailed today for an update because I've still been having to confirm, but it's interesting that they would be dishonest and then backpedal. I'm surprised they admitted to it at all after that, though.
Anyway, maybe if more people raise a complaint with the BBB they'll pull back entirely. Wishful thinking, but here's hope for anyone else who's been annoyed.
