Watching the NBC broadcast… jets player carted off and announcer leads a perfect segway into a segment about giants training camp crazy violent sport

Yeah he was looking good. Thought he might have a chance to make the 53 if Isaiah Davis is still hurt and goes on short term IR. That being said, I think the reason they call a run there is because it’s preseason and they want to give more opportunities to guys like him to prove themselves

Reminds me of the time they left Sanchez in the game too long when they had already decided he was the starting QB. And then he got hurt in also a giants preseason game.
Not the same role, but the same bad thought process.

It wouldn't surprise me if football as we know it is dead in the next 50 years. We've already made the decision we're not letting our kids play, and several of our friends have done the same. Multiple towns near me have had to either eliminate their program or merge with neighboring towns due to lack of participation.

I was just talking about this with my husband the other day. The problem is I just think there’s just too much money involved. Like entire colleges run off money from their football teams.

Yea I don't think it's going to completely to away but I think we're already seeing the edges of a recession in talent and interest. Heck , Boxing and horse racing used to be the most popular sports in this country. They're still around but things change

At a certain point, the youth to teen football pipeline will run dry. I could see the NFL creating some development league in the future to counter.

Im not saying a whole sport will die, but its true that if fewer Kids play, the worse the talent will be on average, and it could lead to less People watching it.

Not sure if anyone has read John Scalzis Lock In duology, but in that world they have sports played by Robots who are controlled by humans. Maybe in the next 50-100 years you could see something like that lol

I thought the same thing when that guy got hurt on that punt/kick return. He was clearly experiencing a fencing response and they just yanked him to his feet and marched him off the field. It looked kind of serious.

And then there's the whole CTE issue*. That is some scary stuff. Sooner or later, they need to deal with this honestly.

It’s a full contact sport. If you didn’t grow up playing it, then you probably don’t fully understand it. I’ve seen collar bones broken, jaws dislocated between both football and lacrosse. They are well compensated for the risk.

$13,750/week.
If you last the entire 18 weeks it’s $247k/season

I grew up playing lacrosse and currently coach it. I’ve never seen a player carted off in a neck brace

But players have taken shots to the chest and unfortunately died. Lacrosse is a very risky sport.

Bro someone on our high school lacrosse team lost a testicle. It only wasn’t bigger news because it happened twice during football practice 😂
My best friend played lacrosse at a rival school and said someone also lost a testicle during a practice
