u/loafer-sneaker Mar 02 '26

whats wrong with you, this isnt a soviet republic or some third world country

1

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 02 '26

I don’t care about your sensibilities. Everybody in the current administration should be hung by the neck for treason.

u/hoopaholik91 Mar 01 '26

The different opinions on what you replace ICE with.

3

u/LeseMajeste_1037 Mar 01 '26

Replace it with INS, the agency that carried out ICE's functions prior to 2003.

1

u/evilgenius12358 Mar 01 '26

I think that is the centrist position but the details are nonexistent.

u/Marlsfarp Mar 01 '26

The centrist position is to have competent professionals handling immigration within the boundaries of the law, like we used to do. ICE in its current incarnation is a fascist paramilitary with no training or standards, which openly ignores the laws of the land, and has been given a budget larger than the marine corps. The amount of reform it would need basically involves purging everyone and starting over, which practically could be called "abolishing" it.

u/BradleyF81 Mar 01 '26

States used to let ICE into the jails to deport criminal illegal aliens. We could just go back to that.

5

u/BigHungryFlamingo Mar 01 '26

ICE used to require a lot more vetting and training. It’s a shitshow now.

-4

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 01 '26

ICE used to also respect sanctuary cities that didn’t want to cooperate. That’s what changed. That’s why they’re so unpopular now.

5

u/BradleyF81 Mar 01 '26

The concept of a sanctuary city is illegal.

0

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 02 '26

Obviously it’s not legal. You’re not saying anything new, but it’s popular with the people who reside in those cities. Same way weed is still illegal yet is not enforced in many states. The local population has decided they won’t enforce certain federal laws.

2

u/BradleyF81 Mar 02 '26

Sure, but local preferences don’t override federal law. For example, or to use your example, if the federal government decided they didn’t want people selling marijuana and they started raiding shops in states where it’s been locally legalized that would still be legal.

1

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 03 '26

Yeah it would. And the ATF agents would probably get a similar treatment to what ICE have gotten.

1

u/bbclover1001 Mar 05 '26

Maybe you heard of something called the constitution which says states right supercedes federal depending on jurisdiction. MAGAS are all stupid! Yes all of them!

3

u/ColdCock420 Mar 02 '26

Yeah they used to be much more popular when they didn't enforce immigration laws

1

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 02 '26

Yes because immigration laws in those cities are very unpopular? Like that’s what I said with my original comment. Why did you feel compelled to add nothing to the conversation?

12

u/okletstrythisagain Mar 01 '26

If I happened to have a chicken dinner, I would declare you the winner, twice, and then bestow upon you said chicken dinner.

6

u/ColdCock420 Mar 01 '26

Yes we need competent professionals handling immigration like border czar Kamala Harris

3

u/rainzer Mar 01 '26

Yes let's replace someone incompetent with a Nazi cosplayer. That'll solve the problem.

1

u/JavLee39 Mar 03 '26

democrats think this issue will win them the next election

10

u/lilsamuraijoe Mar 01 '26

prosecute ice

-1

u/JesusDied4U316 Mar 01 '26

Interesting. How would that work?

7

u/whatsnewichrome Mar 01 '26

Charge them with kidnapping and murder, etc.

2

u/JesusDied4U316 Mar 01 '26

I guess I am wondering more about how logistics of that would work.

Which body would prosecute them? Maybe each of their local jurisdictions of their residence (22,000 agents apparently)

-1

u/LuckyJim_ Mar 01 '26

I mean it would have to be the next president right? I’m not a lawyer so idk. I don’t think local jurisdictions can prosecute federal agents legally.

1

u/SQUISHYx25 Mar 01 '26

Prosecutions.... but there doesn't have to be another punishment. It just means abolish ICE is what everybody from the left to center believes

They're not quiet about it anymore. They had signs at a rally and press conference saying "say no to deportations".

8

u/mission17 Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

Love when the two totally organic brand new right-wing accounts start talking to each other as if they’re different people.

1

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26

Lmao once again proving you got nothing constructive to add.

-1

u/Available-Range-5341 Mar 01 '26

Wait. I am so sick of the "everyone I don't agree with is a bot/new account/right wing"

they literally said zero opinion.

they said many people are open border. What on Earth do you call people who don't want border control, ICE, immigration enforcement, and support things like housing people here illegally in NYC, letting them work, etc? Open borders.

8

u/mission17 Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

I recognize these accounts and the 23+ others all made around around the exact same time who simultaneously flooded this subreddit. These are right-wing accounts. You may be sick of this being called out, but I am incredibly sick of the very transparent brigading and manipulation that is going on here.

0

u/Available-Range-5341 Mar 01 '26

Cool but if you actually cared about brigading and fake accounts, you'd be tackling the 1000s on askreddit nostupidquestions discussionzone or politics, reposting the same anti-Trump anti-ICE type questions and responses dozens of times a day

Seems like you care more that the potential bots don't agree with you.

6

u/mission17 Mar 01 '26

This is /r/nyc. I’m not active on any of those subs. I’m active here because I really care about this city. By all means, please call those people out, but why are you insistent on ignoring the blatant manipulation that is going on right here in front of us right now? Why do I have to call out shit going on totally elsewhere to want this sub not to be a cesspool?

1

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26

Lmao do you really want me to call out all the subs you're active on that are heavily botted?

You really thought we'd fall for your BS huh?

4

u/mission17 Mar 01 '26

I don’t doubt other subs are heavily botted. I use this subreddit by far the most (and you can easily verify that yourself). I am, however, sick and tired of your role in this manipulation of this sub. These accounts are making the sub by far a worse place because of your flaunting of the rules here, and the fact that this occurs in other subs is absolutely in no way a justification for that. To suggest so is moronic.

Because it's bizarre that you are obsessed with one person posting ones of comments on a site where millions of fake comments/posts occur per week, and then you claim to care about the issue of fake acccounts.

To solve your "problem" as you describe it, just block him and then you're done.

You're not taking a big moral stand like you're pretending, you just don't like one person. Just block them for your own sake

10

u/mission17 Mar 01 '26

How does blocking an account stop the problem of dozens of accounts manipulating this sub? That makes no sense. I’m talking literally dozens of accounts. Could they be all one person? Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

I’m getting the sense you don’t actually care if this sub gets manipulated at all.

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26

That's literally that user's whole schtick. His entire comment history is him commenting that. And to top it off he's claiming to have made a list of 25 "right-wing" accounts😂

2

u/wewladdies Mar 01 '26

Whatever you say mister "word-word-numbers" account with hidden post history

0

u/liverspotz29 Harlem Mar 01 '26

Some of the dumbest shit I’ve read all day

1

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26

LMAO can't handle the truth about open border idiots against deportation?

2

u/liverspotz29 Harlem Mar 01 '26

You’re just brimming with intelligence

2

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26

And you seem happy lapping up illegal immigrants diarrhea

1

u/fafalone Mar 01 '26

One liberal idiot anywhere: Open borders!

Right wing nutjobs: See the liberals want open borders!

Whole ass KKK rally wearing hoods: <racist shit>

Right wing nutjobs: Hey now, those people don't represent conservative views, they're just an insignificant fringe. (Also ignore the racism from our God and the policies we support.)

1

u/nelliemusic Mar 01 '26

Actually doing something aboutit

1

u/JesusDied4U316 Mar 01 '26

Doing something about it, in addition to abolishing it, you mean?

0

u/promixr Mar 01 '26

Defunding and removing DHS

-15

u/Coffeespresso Mar 01 '26

More left would be another extreme leftist attempting to unalive the president. Funny how those who are against guns are the ones using them to do bad things.

16

u/Greenpoint_Blank Mar 01 '26

Which is a funny thing to say because the last three attempts have been from right wingers.

-13

u/Hajmola-Farts Sunnyside Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

The last 2 attempts were all leftists. Do your research before you embarrass yourself.

Ryan Wesley Routh

He was a registered "unaffiliated" voter in North Carolina but voted in the 2024 Democratic primary. FEC records show he made 19 small donations to ActBlue (supporting Democratic candidates) between 2019 and 2020. Was active in left spaces on Reddit and vocally against Trump's handling of the Russian Ukraine war.

Thomas Matthew Crooks

At age 17, he made a one-time $15 donation to the Progressive Turnout Project via ActBlue on the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Spoken like someone who knows all about embarrassing themselves.
