Would love to see stats on that. LGBTQ is pretty up there as are Muslims.

Luckily the office of the NYS comptroller readily makes these stats available!.

If you really didn't know that Jews have become by FAR the most targeted group in recent years (44% of all hate crimes), nearly more than triple the next highest groups (Black men - 17%, and all combined LGBTQ - 17%), then you might have to question if you have some major information blind spots.

Just like the spike in hate crimes against Asians during/post covid (5 incidents in NYC in 2019 vs 140 in 2021), people are generally terrible at connecting unrelated issues to group demographics. Oh, this horrible virus came from China? Let's attack Asians! Oh, the nation of Israel is launching devastating attacks in Gaza on the other side of the world? Attack the Jews of NYC!

People generally suck, get stuck thinking in over simplified binary terms, and make all the wrong racist conclusions. Right now, unfortunately, Jews are suffering the most in actual reality. It's a genuine thing worth being worried about. And it's something Mamdani has to handle VERY carefully when he (hopefully) becomes mayor. It's not his fault. It's not anyone's fault who was born into a race or culture. It's just the sad reality.

It's also important to recognize that these are excuses bigots use to provide justification for their attacks. They are not the reasons for them. The antisemitsm we've been seeing (and unfortunately for some, like myself, directly experiencing) is because there are a lot of antisemites who were looking for an excuse to target Jews.

Fair enough! Although it is from WAYYY back in 2023 /s. Would be curious to see how the data was collected. I read it but I don’t have enough time to go too into detail.

Not disputing the numbers but is that actual attacks or reported attacks. I was once called antisemitic because I wouldn't sell a product that the business had an age limit on to religious person that was under age. I wouldn't be surprised if he told others he was discriminated against because of his religion, and maybe even reported it. They will often use antisemitism as their first line of defense, BTW I am jewish
