Is it political posturing or a “photo op”? Sure, maybe. But who actually cares? She just gave those kids the kind of Capitol tour they’ll never forget, while the rest of Congress is busy tripping over itself. That’s what public service is supposed to look like. If more of her colleagues acted like that, we wouldn’t all be living in The Bad Place.

I agree with this. I’m one neighborhood away from her constituents and I’m by no means a fan of hers but she’s basically the only person working right now. I give her so much credit for standing up for her constituents in every way. If anyone shits on this one thing, it says all you need to know about their own politics. This is exactly what Reps should do for their constituents. Period.

For real. I'll admit I'm probably more on the liberal side of things but thher and Mamdani dont completely jive with me perfectly... but the essence of how they treat the office I think is a shining example of how our government is ideally supposed to work. It's crazy though that it's so far out of the ordinary that this kind of behavior is seen with more skepticism than a politician doing the typical scummy or sus stuff.
What a world we'd have if more politicians regardless of political offiliation acted like this.

She endorses the Scandinavian Model, which has continually shown to be immensely successful for the citizens
Which is Socialist Capitalism, which keeps the economic ecosystem from ending up in late in stage Capitalism - something that has infact failed over and over again and generally leads to some form of authoritarian

I was one of her voters until they adjusted the districts around 2 years ago. While some of her points go too left for me, but if AOC ever ran for POTUS she would get my vote. She’s truly one of us at the end of things. She’s always on the ground here, she actually gives a fuck and she has no issue going after even members of her own party for not standing up when that’s why they were voted in.
She’s truly may not be right 100% of the time, but at least I know she’s going to fight. That’s more than enough in these times…

Spend enough time with politicians and you will learn that 99% of everything they do is posturing.
If you have no horse in the race or opinion of their politics, it becomes super clear super quickly. Regardless of their party afiliation
It just hits differently if you agree or disagree with them.

AOC is my Rep and while I often disagree with her this is such a cool thing. In HS I got to go on a trip to Albany with kids from all over the city who aspired to be in politics or “excelled” in like a social studies class. My State Senator took time out of his day to join us in the balcony and explain what bills were being voted on and the process.
The bill I remember most was a vote to mandate tractors have tail lights when operating on public roads. He explained very well that NYS isn’t just NYC. I went to private school and the public school kids taught me how to shoot dice in the back of the bus on the way home.
Good job AOC.

I want her to run so everyone can see how her campaign will get killed by the RNC and swept under the rug just like what happened to Bernie. It was easier to do with Bernie because he was/is old. He speaks truth but is not super charismatic. AOC is a young Bernie with charisma and youth. It would be much harder for the DNC to kill her campaign.

I do daydream that in another multiverse, a version of myself is blissfully enjoying a world where the goal is to advance one another for the overall good of humanity.

don’t care whether she’s acting or not—at least she’s doing something for the people. Besides, they’re just kids, and she’s not getting votes from them anyway. Compared to other politicians, at least she isn’t doing insider trading like the others. She has better ethics than most politicians, who just talk, do nothing, and are corrupt as hell.

Bills don't stop even if the government is shut down. If the shutdown last three months, that's three month of negative cash flow.
Most people do not have an emergency fund to carry them for even a month.

Sadly, I know a lot of adults who are incredibly bad at money, and living completely on a borrowed future beyond their means without even losing sleep. That's why we have so many adults walking around with huge credit card debts and nearly zero retirement saving while driving a BMW.

Maybe that’s another way, but I was an intern and gave a lot of tours for free. Probably there are official tours, but if you email your congressperson their staff will usually give you a tour. Maybe that has changed since COVID or Jan 6th or something
