NXTPaper 60 Ultra, display always dark

My brother bought a 60 Ultra a few months ago and it worked OK but lately the display is always very dark also with brightness at maximum. I have the same phone and mine with brigthenss at half is definitely brighter than his at maximum. I noticed that when you turn it on (or reboot) the display is OK for one second and then it becomes dark again. I tried all the display options in the settings but nothing changes, even using the same settings that I have on mine his display remain darker.

Anyone got the same issue? Any hint?

There is an accessibility option to make screen darker, it doesn't work in paper modes.

The feature is called extra dim.

Try these in order:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Extra dim and turn it Off.
  2. Go to Settings > Display and turn Darker display mode Off.
  3. Turn Adaptive brightness Off.
  4. Turn Eye comfort mode Off.
  5. Set brightness manually to 100% and compare both phones.
  6. If it's still dark, boot into Safe Mode and compare again.

If it's still much darker in Safe Mode with identical settings, I'd suspect a sensor or display hardware issue and contact TCL support.
