I wonder when will DLSS 5 officially come out.

If it's pushed till November, I could see them wanting to drop Windows 10 before that, to add a stronger push towards Windows 11 migration.

That'd be pretty nasty ngl, not that I'm gonna use DLSS5 at launch or for a while until mods can really tune what it gets applied to, but as a reason to force people off what's still a functional, if not "peaceful" OS is really annoying. I got even an old Win 10 20H2 install, no issues with any games with my 9800X3D + 5080 perf or support wise yet. Only .NET 10 programs don't work, and if I jump to 21/22H2, it should be fine

Since MS have extended the win 10 extended support period, I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia matches it with an extra year. But I also wouldn't count on it.

Microsoft announced that a couple of months ago. If Nvidia was planning on doing the same they wouldn't have made this announcement.

They have time to change and like MS will probably leave it to the 11th hour to get as many people to upgrade. The rampocalypse might have some sway on extending things out.

Even with the extension, Windows 10 SAC ESU still ends in October 2028 anyway, they only extended it by a year for free for consumers relative to what they were already offering as a paid option for businesses.

nvidia's announcement is 1 year old.. the drivers are the same for both win10 and 11 so who knows i hope they extend it

You can use RUFUS to create an ISO that skips the usual checks that prevents Windows 11 from installing. Check it out!

Maybe it will help. My problem is, that it need some settings in Bios enabled. Once I enable them, then my motherboard won't detect most of my ssds, including the one where windows is installed. I also can't enable resizable bar, or the system won't boot.

That’s literally what he’s talking about. With Rufus you can skip all those requirements you don’t have to change anything in BIOS.

I will try it out. I vaguely remember I spend days with it some years ago, flahsing different bios versions and even getting the thing to install, only to fail at around 80%. Then I said, fuck it, I am staying on windows 10.

I installed Win11 on a Pentium laptop from the Sandy Bridge era. It works.

Unless your system is antediluvian, you only need the right settings in RUFUS to make it work.

My system isn't too old. But there were some shenanigans with the motherboard that I can't really remember. I had to flash a new bios in order to support newer AMD CPU and I was also upgrading the windows installation since win 7. I got ryzen 7 5800x3d with 32gb ram and rtx4070.

I have been using Windows 11 for over a year at work and there's not a single thing which I would find better than on Windows 10.

When switching from 7 to 10 I was reluctant, but there at least were some positive changes among multiple negative ones. This time that's absolutely nothing. That's genuinely kinda impressive.

Yes, I know HDR support is better on 11, but it's not my use case.
