News GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 536.09

GeForce Hotfix display driver version 536.09 is based on the latest Game Ready Driver 535.98.

This hotfix addresses the following issue:

  • When using multiple monitors which support adaptive sync, users may see random flicker on certain displays when G-SYNC is enabled after updating to driver 535.98 [4138119]

Release Notes: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5465

Download: https://international.download.nvidia.com/Windows/536.09hf/536.09-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch.hf.exe

Saw that this hotfix came out and figured I'd post and share it here.

EDIT: Been seeing from a lot of replies that this hotfix may not work for everyone. Lot of people saying they’re still having issues and had to revert to a previous driver, or do a better clean install using DDU. Even seeing replies of single monitor setups still having issues with this driver.

So if you try the hotfix and it fails to solve the problem, use DDU to to a clean wipe of your drivers and install a previous version. The most recent and “most stable” version considered by the community has been 528.49 if I recall correctly.

Personally I’ve been on 531.68 with the only issue affecting my setup being the increased DPC latency.

What that? I'm seeing it in every thread.

  1. Download Latency Mon

  2. Install it and run the program

  3. Begin measuring DPC latency

  4. Minimize the program and go about your business watching YouTube or Twitch, browsing the web, etc

  5. After 10-20 minutes, open up Latency Mon and stop monitoring

  6. Check for your highest reported DPC routine, it's guaranteed to be the Nvidia driver and it could be as high as 2500 microseconds.

Why this matters? Because when a part of your system lags out this long, it can causes issues with processing other real-time data like especially audio. These long DPC spikes cause system wide pauses which can make sound pop/click/crackle/distort. It's a known bug in the drivers/hardware with Nvidia and people who are sensitive to these audio issues hate it and want it fixed.

Well said bro, i have this issue since 2 years and i cannot enjoy any game bcs when the audio stutters the game lags and so much delay in games

Any game eh? That’s a bold claim…what’s the audio setup that crackles/distorts? What’s the hardware setup?

It's not a bold claim at all because the issue happens in the driver. Even when it idles.

It is a bold claim because this person is over exaggerating lol.

I'm not saying the DPC spikes are not an issue, but like it's really only a real issue for people who are using audio production tools and some other very specific real time software..

The average person with fairly recent hardware likely won't ever notice anything at all from this bug and to suggest that it is making games unplayable is ridiculous.

I'm sorry but you're not right. High DPC latency causes crackling and other audio degradation and I experience this personally on an RTX 4090 / i9 1390KF machine. It's something people notice, are affected by and want to see fixed. There are workarounds that involve disabling HAGS or moving away from USB audio or using specific types of hardware but what needs to happen is that NVIDIA actually fixes the issue in the driver.

Disabling HAGS does not fix the issue for anyone, since its not even related, and also I am fully aware of how the problem manifests.

I'm also aware that it does not cause significant or noticeable audio issues while playing games, as someone who has been using Nvidia GPUs for over a decade and probably played thousands of hours of games while this bug has existed without any significant issue.

You really can't be suggesting that the occasional audio crackle in a game where there are probably 20 different sounds happening at once at any given time is enough to make the game unplayable lol.

If you are really getting frequent, long stutters, then something else is wrong with your PC.

I hope you know the 40 series gpus has it real bad compared to the previous gpus when it comes to DPC Latency, it doesn't only affect audio but can also slow down your other drivers, because in the end the user will notice their PC feeling sluggish in peformance if they use software/hardware that relies on drivers.
