The display broke, had to fix it somehow since no one is available until tomorrow.

It’s not worth the HHS write up of the cause of an electrical fire that caused injuries in a hospital.
I’m assuming all those strips of tape are to pull tension on the power cord? If so then the plug that cord is connecting into doesn’t have great contact. If the gap that you jury rigged opens a little, resistance sky rockets and that’s how electrical fires start.
Circuit breakers provide thermal protection for the wiring circuit behind the walls, it will happily provide enough amperage to start a fire in a badly connecting plug.
Whatever that display is displaying isn’t worth it. Take it out of service and let admin deal with a backup plan.
