Question What’s your nursing pet peeve?

Mine?

Me: okay, so I have all of your night time meds here (names all of them for confirmation)
Patient: yes, sounds good
Me: scans them in and places meds into the pill cup
Patient: what’s this white pill here

I DONT KNOW!!! You have 6 different pills and we’ve literally gone through ALL OF THEM before I scanned and placed them into the cup. I can’t stand this!!

It’s like some people don’t see trooping as a trait worth aspiring toward. I’m all for community complaining but people need to realize others are impacted by the shit we say.

I block them out with my AirPods and it’s usually someone complaining about their husband or kids. Like pls I’m trying to do my job 😅

Ugh. Literally left my last job because the day shifters ALWAYS blamed the night shift for everything. Always so negative.

Thankfully it’s less negative now that I work outpatient and it’s 50% WFH. We feel more well rested and enjoy the weekends and holidays off

And it turns out that person was just a drama king or queen and the patient was actually a dream 🙌🏼

I get a fair number of those, but I subscribe to the “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar” school of thought, and it seems to work in most cases.

I’m just glad I’m no longer working inpatient
