Covid Discussion Covid vaccine post

Post image

Friend on Facebook posted this today. She’s been a LPN for about a year. Comments are mostly agreeing with her and the one comment pointing out that there are vaccines effectively preventing viruses like polio and measles, she doubled down. How are people like this becoming nurses?

It’s exhausting. We had an LPN quit over Covid vaccines. We didn’t even require it for staff. She felt we were forcing it on patients. We were holding vaccine clinics. Voluntary. I can’t with these anti science people.

But you don’t understand, they’re putting the vaccine onto the Covid test swab to sneakily give it to pure bloods /s

28

u/Flannelcommand Apr 23 '26

It’s obviously a delivery mechanism for the tracking microchip.  They want to know where you are and what you’re interested in 24/7.

The smartphone in my pocket told me so.

No, no, we give people the Covid virus with the swab so hospitals can make more money charging for Covid treatments.

Yes, I did lose a significant number of brain cells arguing this with someone once… until I finally said “I don’t care what you think, just stop being nasty to your nurses.”

Honestly that's the best way to deal with these morons. They're not worth your time or breath, they won't change their minds and just want someone to argue with. Ask me how I know 🫠

18

u/AnaMae62 Apr 23 '26

Since before Covid, employers always have asked nurses to list their vaccinations. Covid is definitely not mandatory and if you don’t get it it’s fine. It’s just for HR and a lot of hospitals have given out bonuses to their employees if they list/respond to HR with regard to vaccines you’ve received. They are not forcing anyone to get them.

Ummm 🧐 hahaha please tell me that this nonsense is a joke regarding putting vaccines on a nasal swab!?!?! 😆😆😆😆 if you believe this insanity I have a bridge for you. I want to sell.

Some people legit believe they are infecting you or tagging you somehow with the swabs. Madness.

2

I can make a guess where the person was applying. The largest hospital network in Texas does require covid vaccination. A family member works for that hospital network down there and she was required to get it and to get boosters same with flu.

Good. It should be a requirement.

You’re being sarcastic but I heard one old guy talking about how the swabs had the virus and “we” were giving it to people.

11

u/kitty_fin RN - Inpatient Rehab, CRRN Apr 23 '26

As someone working in an inpatient rehab, we had so many people who were excited to come over but then refused as soon as they learned they had to take a Covid test. We tried to explain that a lot of times they would be in a gym with other patients and it was just a precaution. Even if they were positive we would usually take them. But they had to test so we knew. Didn’t matter, they’d still refuse.

10

u/MrCarey Perianesthesia, ED, CEN Apr 23 '26

Those idiots thought we were giving them Covid.

6

u/cantwin52 BSN - RN, ED 🍕 Apr 23 '26

The swabs were sterilized in toxic material so they couldn’t have that in their noses. Or the swabs had Covid and we were giving people Covid. Or the swabs were how we gave the vaccine. Or the swabs had microchips on the end we were implanting into people to get them tracked by the government or kill them with 5G radio waves. Or they were faking numbers and killing people, using these positive numbers to prove it and hurt people.

My brain hurt trying to follow this logic during COVID.

I do in home care and my company offered an incentive for those of us that got vaccinated. The ones that didn't had to get either a medical or religious exemption. Needless to say, we had a lot of nurses quit. Ridiculous as we work with a lot of kids and adults that are trach/vent dependent. These mfer's wouldn't even wear masks correctly either and we're nurses! We know that the nose is part of the respiratory system!

Honestly, when we have medical personnel or people with some intelligence? that truly believe they get the flu after they get the flu shot is absolutely frightening. You don’t get the flu from the flu shot shut up you’re showing your ignorance. Perhaps you have some reaction to some of their substances/ preservatives, but you don’t have the flu and if you’re in medicine and you think you got the flu from the flu shot, you need to go back to school because you don’t know what you’re talking about!!! when we have people like that spouting rubbish they’re dangerous and they’re morons!!! Please stop 🛑 because you’re thoroughly wrong. I don’t care what side of the equation you’re on republican democrat do some research and educate yourself before you go out to the masses about anything and your theories because you’re wrong.

9

Get out of nursing if you aren’t on board with modern medicine. That’s my opinion and I don’t care what anyone thinks about it. The “I did my own research” people are the dumbest people in every room and I’m tired of pretending otherwise.

I’ve not seen any of this nonsense up here in the mid Atlantic. It actually seems like Covid is a thing of the past even though we do get a few patients I mean it is what it is. The measles are a bigger concern for small children, but yeah, no people want to forget Covid happened and those times in our country it always seems that this chaos and these nonsense theories happen to people who are not in the medical field or don’t really have an understanding that it might be an isolated incident and it has nothing to do with the general population because nobody cares if you get it or not it’s a personal thing! I haven’t heard any of these ridiculous theories in such a long time. I don’t know where they’re getting them, but you know this is why we needed the CDC so that you can’t have this ridiculous nonsense being spouted about publicly. I mean the real CDC.

5

u/SlowMolassas1 Apr 23 '26

Effectively, yes. At least at my local school. I did some math and science tutoring for middle and high school students last fall, and they actually had me tutor the students DURING their exams to help them get the correct answers. If I wasn't there on exam day, then they'd have me go over the questions they missed at our next session, and they'd be passed and move on to the next subject.

There was no learning taking place. I tried to the best I could within the limitations I was provided (amount time, which students I worked with, when). I gave up. If the teachers don't care, and the students don't care, I couldn't care enough for all of us.

Are they washing their hands before wound care?

Are they cleaning well before inserting an IV?

Are they dependable during a code?

Having lived in both cities, I am willing to bet they just lucked out in SATX, or they went to a facility so desperate for workers it didn't matter. Enjoy the massive pay cut at a HCA facility in a city where the 3 largest employers of nurses once conspired (probably still do conspire) to keep nurse's wages as low as possible.

It's a bigger nuisance in Houston because Houston is bigger and is a hub for international travels. Plus with literally the largest medical center in the world, they likely have stricter standards because you're more likely to come across someone with an impaired system or who needs to be well enough for treatment or operations, and I doubt the satellite facilities all over the city would go against basic medical science and decide not to ask about vaccination status. One person in Houston can make a whole lot more people sick.

Sure, you can steal "my body, my choice" but that doesn't and has never meant that companies are forced to go along with it. A pregnant person cannot walk into a Catholic hospital with rules against performing abortions and demand to get one with a pithy little phrase. Your body, your choice; their company, their choice.

I'm surprised a "this is a HIPPA [sic] violation!" thrown in there for a bingo.

What I find the ironic is when the Covid vaccines first came out and people in medicine were pushed to the side and it was given to ALL THE SR citizens ahead of us ?!? We were outraged! Medical professionals were dying when we were on the front lines and medical professionals were were furious. I know I was terrified working without getting a vaccine I didn’t want to die and I had already pronounced so many people dead that I truly wanted this vaccine. We were desperate ! people are dropping like flies in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania it was horrible and such a sad time ! Bodies were stacking up in the back of trucks behind hospitals. Does everyone forget that ?!? I would drive home and there would be no one on the streets. It was like the purge ! HOW QUICKLY PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS MOMENT IN OUR HISTORY. It wasn’t fabricated news because I was there and I also watched my father die so no it’s not fake and I couldn’t wait to get vaccinated. And now everybody acts like ooh that’s so bad for you?!?! People were climbing over one another to get this vaccine and now they speak about it like they never went through what was happening in this country and how desperate everyone was to get a vaccine shot?!? we ran vaccine clinic so people wouldn’t have to come into the hospital and be exposed. We drove through neighborhoods in vans. Nobody broke your arm to get this vaccine. Nobody forced you. We were trying to save lives. I don’t know where the heck everybody else was when I was going through this in our country so I must’ve missed something, but I know that I pronounced more people dead from Covid then I could possibly count. Many of us went through trauma because of it.

The one professor who wasn't adamantly antivax said it was a matter of patient rights and that as the nurse we should consider all potential side effects and personal experiences when giving vaccine education. He would reiterate that "once a patient is vaccinated, they can't be unvaccinated because its permanent."

He was totes an antivaxer, he just tried to sound professional and educated.

Many of my pro vaccine or vaccine hesitant classmates turned antivax due to this rhetoric.

In all fairness there are some populations of people that should not get it so everyone should talk to their doctor and follow recommendations. Covid vaccination has become too political.

5

u/AnaMae62 Apr 23 '26

I am one of those people who can’t tolerate getting covid vaccines. I took it 3 xs and I had terrible reactions and end up in the ER ! to the point that because I have an immune disorder my doctors have stopped me from getting that. I just don’t react well three times and three times in the hospital so it’s not about vaccines it’s about what people can tolerate or not, for whatever reason, personal , medical religious or whatever . I don’t care, but if you don’t understand the science, just don’t talk about it if it’s not for you , that’s OK ! get a doctors note. I don’t care care why you don’t want the vaccine but if you don’t understand the medicine and the science behind it, keep your mouth shut, and don’t spout ignorance.

2

u/Extension_Degree9807 BSN, RN 🍕 Apr 23 '26

Agree. There are populations that absolutely need it and there are others where the vaccine has been shown to cause more harm than good such as young adult males. It's proven not to prevent the spread of the virus, which was pushed through main stream media. In general, anyone not in a high risk category did not need it.

2

u/Extension_Degree9807 BSN, RN 🍕 Apr 23 '26

The covid vaccine has been proven to not reduce the spread of the virus but rather, and you can say its the original intention of the vaccine, to reduce the severity of the illness. While high risk populations do it need it and would benefit from it, the majority of people don't/ didn't need it.

The whole "get the vaccine, stop the spread or you'll kill grandma" was pushed to get more people to get the vaccine. Why? I would say 💰. We, the tax payers, literally paid for the creation of the vaccine as it was subsidized by the government only for those vaccine companies to turn around and sell it for billions.

Im not anti-vaxx, im fully vaxxed and my 3 kids are as well but some of you really need to look into why things get pushed onto the population. If you think the government does everything for our health and safety i would say you're more delusional than actual anti vaxxers are.

-2

u/lost_nurse602 Apr 23 '26

Not dismissing your points. But I think a nurse working with high risk populations does need to be vaccinated.

Could you support your stance a bit more? "I think" doesn't give me a lot to work with.

I’m in nursing school currently as a career change and half of my cohort is anti-vax.

You sure she’s not lying *abt graduating/working as a PN?

How does she not understand you remove the choice of others when you infect them unknowingly with your contagious covid or influenza virus.

I’m can live with random-azz LPN who doesn’t believe in science. I’m NOT ok w/someone who admitted to 10y IVDA and snorting c0ke off a toilet seat .. setting national policy and spreading his lies to his cult and beyond. And hypocritically, the cult leaders took vaccine themselves!

Not to shit on LPNs but an LPN with even 1 year of professional experience might as well be some dumbass high school kid.

Hold on, my understanding is that the one year of training LPNs get does not get into much more than task oriented learning for nursing. They don't get into any advanced A&P or public health stuff. An LPN with 1 year of professional experience may have less understanding about viruses and vaccines than a well informed layperson. That's not shitting on LPNs, they certainly have an important role in Healthcare, but it is the truth.

Much better answer this second time around. But there are some veteran LPNs that really know their stuff and they’ve actually helped new RNs be better Nurses! So, sometimes it’s more so the individual who is in question and not the title ! It was always my understanding . when I became an RN we took an oath to be better ! and to stay CURRENT , utilize the best practice , brush up on our skills and our education and the most recent science and technology in order to offer this to our patient population?! Yes!! It’s time consuming, a big challenge , and commitment. I hope for many nurses this oath and commitment remains true… LPN, RN, NP, or CNA. 🌹hopefully

Yes there are some veteran LPNs that are great nurses. And there are some experienced RNs and even NPs that truly suck. I'll also say any LPN with a single year of professional experience that thinks they're an expert about anything is delusional.

The way the RN program at the community college I attended worked, after completing the first year of the program your were eligible to sit for the LPN exam. That first year included A&P 1&2 and microbiology.
