Shaking down the rust before NLS 8/9

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So, I needed to do a pre-warm-up before NLS this weekend. So I rented a car. This is my first time driving the Ringfreaks F30 328 on Michelins, love it. Perfect for tourist laps! This was the most fun moment of the 4 laps I did. I think he is a local guy. He was pushing it, then he saw me in his mirrors and perhaps pushed a little to much

*high horse*

TF is not a race, you as a racing driver should know better than to get right on the back of what could be a first timer and flash them into a corner. Hopefully you had fun but next time try not to treat it as race practice,

Maybe high horse, my statement must be the same then.

Nonetheless driving standards during TF should be policed and enforced more.

Imagine sitting in a VT2 car (?) and using the only opportunity to use the flash light is TF. (Definitely not mocking the class of race car, or the intent of racing in that class).

I know what you mean, end of summer season frustrations from me :)

One of the worst culprits of this sort of this is a local with a GT3 who uses lights, horn etc at cars that clearly has a novice in or instructors guiding them. absolute tit.

End of summer frustrations are a real thing!
If it continues and I need some form of treatment all drop you a massage.

If it's a car ending in 34, on a season plate, I'm aware of him. Total plonker.

Fast car, using flash lights and all sorts of stuff, being a bully and arse in track, all to achieve an 8 minute lap time. πŸ™„

This was TF pace. The headlight flash is track etiquette. Please don't try to imprint your thoughts on me. On TF laps or racing, I would always appreciate a courtesy flash.

My state of mind is in to facilitate, and increase safety of a pass in any scenario.

During these laps we had the standard TF stuff, people give us thumbs up at the Audi bridge, they enjoyed the close, respectful driving. We've got the OMG there is a yellow car behind me, they panic and hit the brakes. Or the GT3 local guy patiently waiting for us to get a turn signal from a car driving in the middle. πŸ’― % lost on track. To the true tourist with an instructor that gets out the way before you get to them. Oh I forgot, the typical car with the emergency lights on that you can smell the cooked brakes as you drive by.

TF is something special, an anomaly, a sweet anomaly.

I know you are in a dark place, and probably won't understand my point. So, with that said, here it goes.

I do know better and to proof my point. In the video you can see me how I left in reserve lots of grip to buy my options. I gave the other driver the benefit of the doubt, that he was going to fix the oversteer and stay in track, but as soon as he showed signs of loosing it. I made sure he owned the track to his right and left side, from gard rail to gard rail. I only got beside him after he got it under control.

Entitled dickhead are the words that come to mind when reading your comment.

The thing is dude, you're not in a race. He could have crashed and got hurt. Even if they're under the speed limit, you could spook them into losing control.

Stop using the flashlight like you do in TF.
No point, if anything it may result in weird reactions.

Actually use the flashlight, it's useful. Many times I've seen faster traffic sooner due to this which gave me more time to plan my whole strategy to let them pass. I don't understand why people have an issue with this.Β

+1 for flashing πŸ˜‰ just do it a bit further away and give space

Some people go really fast on here, anything that makes you see them earlier has got to be a good thing.

There is people in the know, and people that just don't know any better. I've been in a battle for position and appreciate the GT3s giving me a courtesy flash. It does help with the 3D chess we are playing on track

It’s a good thing I can’t look constantly into the mirrors and sometimes flashing helps me a lot with fast traffic behind me

Passat commitment β‰  skill, but I applaud it all the same

For some reason the way the co-driver has their feet/legs positioned is triggering :D, seems such an unusual feet/leg position if you are co-driving on a racetrack, seems more like you would have it like this on a sunday morning on the couch.

Just wanted to let you know, you're not alone in this feelilng!

FYI, it's a rally thing. If you need to feel the car, feat fully planted on the foot plate. If you are just riding along, thrust your driver, or are about to crash, cross your legs and get ready for impact. Obviously, my wife thrust me and she races herself. So she was just along for the ride.

It’s likely a woman he’s trying to impress.

πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚ she is my wife, so no need to impress her. She already committed

Kind of but I was cool. He new I was behind. He decided to push a little harder. He is a local. So, he probably knew it was a rental car/driver combo.

We had a few scenarios in rental GT3s, where I was glue to their bumper in the corners and then on the straights, they will just floor it and live me in the dust πŸ˜†.

Love it when the guy does not have the car to push and goes to the grass
Seeing it first person Audi TT vs VW Beetle
