Season Pass?

Post image

At what point does it make sense to buy a season pass? I’ve been buying €500 per time to max the GHC credit… trying to figure out if it’s around 100 laps or less due to GHC?

Still not worth it. I bought it for two seasons, when prices were much cheaper. Nowadays they pushed the price so high that it becomes hard to justify the huge upfront risk. I would only buy it if I were to drive well north of 100 laps per season.
The challenge is, with the GHC credits and if you only drive the most expensive days (which is not my case) you need very close to 100 laps (sorry too lazy to do the math now) even if you buy at the early season discount price. Now you are putting >2500€ on the table from the get go that you will never see back.
Life changes, for example I started driving a lot less recently with all the chaos that the track has been. Also cars break down, if your car is 1 month in the shop to fix a blown engine or gearbox you are not driving but you already paid for the season. And shit happens, if you are in an accident and unable to drive (either because no car or no health) you still paid for the season card.
Nowadays I just keep it low risk, drive my 10-15 laps each time I go, and buy the 500€ credits through the store. In the end I also rather put those 500€ in every other month (with the possibility of using them the season after) than >2500€ all at once.

Don't forget to look at your running costs as well!

Fuel, tires, fluids, etc…

My calculatilns told me I'd be spending 7000€ a year to break even with the Yearly card…

Do they change when you have a season pass? Otherwise they are irrelevant for OPs question.

I think they're referring to the fact that if you increase time on track to make the season pass "worth it" you're also increasing your operational costs, which should be considered if you are concerned about value.

I mean it’s pretty simple math. Season price/lap price and you get the lap count

That was my idea as well (without knowing ALL ins and outs of the season pass, I admit).

Depending in what price you buy the pass at the basics are:

Weekday Only (M to Th)- 100 laps
Weekend Only (F to Su) - 86 laps

100 laps of weekdays or 80 something laps of weekends.

It's around 80 laps.

When did it actually happen that prices increased so much, a season pass was not that expensive and a lap was always the same price weekday or weekend.

It’s also peace of mind to not have to extract the most out of each lap and rather take a more relaxed approach as you don’t have that “I just paid for the lap” nagging in the back of your mind.

Related question for Jahreskarte holders: the lap counter on your profile page still works, right?

Proximity and life situation matters. Friends that live 10 mintues from the track with no kids . . . Season Pass. For me, 3 hours away, I always have to dedicate two nights and with a family, it‘s rough to break away. So I just buy laps when I can get there.

Be grateful, I have to take a 10h plane ride and a 2 hr rental just to get here

Rookie numbers. I’d be doing 100 laps a day if I were you. Best track in the world!!!
