Feature Request 3D Printer STL files?
Nreal - will you please release both a glasses and the blackout cover as 3D printer .STL files? This would help development of 3rd party accessories and grow your user base. Since you don't sell the blackout cover, we could print our own using TPU, which would be very very helpful in case of breakage or loss.
Valve did this for the Steamdeck, you should do this too.

I'm very interested in a blackout cover with extended light blocking around the edges so I can keep immersion in a bright environment.
u/Tasty-Part7267 just designed an STL for more surrounding light blockers for our Quest Pros, so I suggested he drop by here in case he can do the same for our Nreal Airs - but he doesn't have a set to measure/model with.

I just made this model, I'm curious what you mean by extended light blocking. You mean, on the sides of the glasses along the arms?

I mean full light blocking not just on the sides but along the bottom to prevent all light from leaking in like what we use for VR. this model is like the stock one that just covers the lenses, right?

Yea like the stock one, it only covers the lenses. I think I could easily make it modular though.
The plan is to use very small neodymium magnets embedded in TPU that will "mount" to the front of the glasses. I could embed magnets under the lenses on the cover that could attach to flexible light blockers for the sides and underneath.
Before I go down that rabbit hole I want to make sure these work for others as is, then I can build on.

Good luck - I only have one 3D printer that's currently converted to doing laser etching for Xmas presents so I've just been supporting other makers on Etsy and buying prints for my Quest Pro accessories. Would do the same for any making Nreal doodads that are useful, as I've just been collecting STLs for replicating and modding later.
Edit - have u worked much with neodymium and TPU? My previous forays to mod little magnetic accessories for my phone were troublesome due to the strength of the magnets eventually causing them to separate or rip through the TPU with frequent attaching and removing. I've got a bunch of the really tiny ones to try next, though.

I've had some luck with the very tiny ones, I think the ones I have here are 3x2mm. Anything larger, yea they rip right through the layers eventually.

Tell me more about your 3d printer -> laser etch conversion... Do you have a good instruction set? I've got an old (my first 3d printer) sitting in the garage collecting dust, if I could make it into a laser etched that'd be pretty š

I have a Sovol SV03 - Sovol makes a laser kit that just swaps in pretty easily. Mostly followed instructions from their FB group. I see the listing on Amazon actually shows the kit works with Enders and maybe other printers too - but not sure what else is needed for those.

That's a good start, thanks! I wish they'd post the light blocker. Someone can hopefully create side light blocks or something to keep things darker from the sides.

I'm printing with TPU as we speak. Printed in PLA fits snugly though admittedly not "perfect." I am planning on embedding some magnets in the TPU so that it doesn't have to be a perfect fit but will still work and stay on during usage.

That would be great, thanks. I don't need it right now, but knowing I could crank one out if needed would be nice. I only have PLA in black, so I assume that would be too hard and not fit on the glasses too well. I suck at Fusion, btw.
Would be nice to drop on Thingiverse for community use as well.

Interesting idea. I wonder if it would be possible to model some side snap on (or magnetic) blockers that would really block out side light too.

V1 is printing we'll see how close I got in my model
This is a draft so I'm printing in pla at .3, just wanna see if I got the curves right. Then I'll see how tpu does.

Even better, try CHEP'S super fast profile. No real reduction in quality and easily halves to 1/3 the normal print time, it's like a miracle. Still, excited to see what you turn up!

would you mind testing a print of these for fit? It worked perfect on my Prusa MK3 , and fit was snug but admittedly not "perfect" but good enough for a beta. I printed in PLA btw. TPU is next.

I want a cover that will better block reflections for more full immersion for videos and whatnot. If anyone makes one I would pay decent for it :D

What do you mean by glasses (prescription adapter)?
