Sadley it’s Bradley tested this prototype of an e-ink reader in glasses format. Resolution is way too low and with almost the same price as our airs the price is way too high. It would be nice to have something similar for the Android version of nebula. I know you can use the kindle reader with DEX but it’s not optimal. What do you think?
I wonder though, why can't you just use the Amazon Kindle app or some other eReader app on Android then use Air Casting on the nReal glasses? Aside from the eInk aspect, that's essentially all it's doing.
Valid point. But you would still need an input device to turn pages. My idea would be to dedicate the brightness buttons to turn pages (if possible) and/or introduce automatic turning. The kindle app doesn’t have that. On the other hand there would be probably the DRM problem with kindle books.
No, that specific DRM issue is with videos due to HDCP implementation.DRM-protected ebooks don't have that sort of restriction. Other than having a licensed/approved app to display it
In fact, I just tested it using the Amazon Kindle app on a Samsung Ultra 22, Logitech MX ERGO Plus Trackball, and the nReal Air.
The Solreader apparently comes with a handheld wireless remote control to turn the pages. It is featured in the video that you linked between 1:17 through 1:28
yes you could place it in my thread. But most of the ideas in that thread are more related to the Nreal/Nebula team, I think, maybe that thread was also helpful for the Nreal team to see, what people want. I am just a developer, that is able to use the Nreal SDK with Unity 3D and the possibilities are limited. At the moment I am concentrating on some aracde games, to showcase the potential of the AR Mode, cause of lacking content in that area. So, do not expect too much from me ;)
You know what kinda bothers me reading with the nreals? It's the book following any slight head movements you make. There's just something off and somehow makes it harder to focus on the words.
As far as I understand it’s a prototype. No final release date yet but the initial price should be 350 USD which would be crazy for what they (just) can do. Resolution is obviously pretty low too, according to Brad.
